Scale Scale flaps & ailerons for Balsa 1/3 Super Cub

As soon as my glue supplies come I will be starting the construction of my Balsa SC. I have seen different ones reference scale flaps & ailerons and have seen several on youtube with them. I Googled them and came up with nothing. Where are they available from?

Yes, I see now. Last night after I posted this message I used Duckduckgo.com to search and it gave me a link to the page you just sent. It's amazing sometimes how that search engine will give you info that Google wont. Do you know if the aileron kit uses any of the aileron material supplied in the big kit or is it different material all together and is it actually any metal involved in the optional kit or does it just look like metal?

The attached photos shown the scale ailerons and flaps. You get the balsa, plywood and metal in the kit. You will need to shorten the aileron kit for the flaps.

TonyHallo

The kit is listed for the Cub kit not the Super Cub. When I searched for Super Cub Scale Aileron kit I didn't get a hit, it came right up when I searched for Cub however.

Thank you so much for the pics. I am definitely going to go with the optional kit. Are you going to mount your servos as per the plans or are you putting them in the wings? I saw one gent who was lamenting the fact that he did not do that when he built his and I gather that it may be better to mount them in the wings.

I mounted both the flap and aileron servo under the fuel tank cover near the root of the wing. The aileron is a pull-pull arrangement with scale horns, the flap is push pull hidden in the wing.

Thank you so much for the pictures. I will save them and use them for a reference when I get to mounting the servos.

Tony,

Are all the hardware and wood pieces I see in these pictures supplied in the Balsa SC kit and the optional aileron kit or are there extra things to buy to make mine like this ?

The kit contains the wood and metal parts to build and hinge the ailerons. The controls are provided by the builder. When I first built the plane I was using under wing controls for both flaps and ailerons. As the build progressed and more scale detail was added, I decided to go back and made the controls more scale like. Attached are some examples of what was added.
