Was kinda busy today, we ended up flying 3 rounds due to the weather forecast for tomorrow. It was HOT this afternoon, with the winds shifting around being light and variable. There were a few casualties today, one big twin model came apart in the air due to a wing center section failing, and there was a midair but both models survived and can be repaired.
The plan is to fly one round in the morning tomorrow before the weather comes in, we will see.
I only took a few photos today, sorry about that.

Defender of the Noob!
I only took a few photos today, sorry about that.
Larry,

I have the utmost respect for competitors that also participate as volunteers so I appreciate every bit of what you've tried to do to share the event with us!

Thanks for the photos that you did post and please let me know what size t-shirt you wear, at the very least you deserve a GSN t-shirt!

Thanks!
Bart

Thank you Bart but it was no problem, I'm sorry I did not get more photos on Saturday but flying three rounds makes for a full day of flying. I ended up missing first place by just 1.6 points, if Brenda had not missed calling the loop in my first round I would have won first place, it figures this was the first time she ever missed calling a maneuver, oh well:(
My first round I was flying in front of the "generous" judges so my scores were a notch above all the other rounds so to miss the opportunity during the first round killed us. I thought my flying was the worst during the first round but I was getting the highest scores for my flying, it just goes to show how much difference the set of judges can make. The last round on Sunday I had some crud in the carb and the mixture would not go rich, something I check prior to each flight, I took off anyway and the engine started to go lean so I called a "mayday" and landed without incident. If I had scored better than a 92 on that last flight I could have won again but it was not to be.
I did get the highest static score yet with my Fiat so that was a good thing that came out of this event.

I think the scores and a bunch more photo's are posted on the AMA web site in the "NAT's News" if anybody is interested.
There is always next year!

John Boyko did a FANTASTIC job as CD for the event, the AMA prepped the site just like he had asked, and as a result it turned out to be a perfect place to fly for the weekend.
