I'd rather be safe and use a standard lipo charger for the battery - charged outside of the TX.
That way it is safer and I can balance charge the lipo. That's what I do for my lipo in my TX.

Actually the DX8 has a multi-chemistry charger intended to charge either NIMH or Lipo specified for use in the DX8. I'm using this battery : http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...lligent_Transmitter_Pack_USA_Warehouse_.htmla
from Hobbyking. This battery does not have a balance lead and is intended to charge within the DX8. I have used the lipo for quite some time and it has operated flawlessly.

I'm using the same batt for the last year, with good results. The one thing that shocked me was how much power my DX8 uses. I think it's the reason some people were having transmitter probs - with the stock battery (nimh) the display gauge way overstated how much was left in it even when set to nimh. I think folks were basically running it down without knowing it, which sucks!

None of the software updates have addressed the gauge - but now with a big 4000mah lipo it doesn't matter much anymore...

I bought the spektrum lipo and use the supplied charger per manual left it pluged in fir 14 hrs and charger kicjed off at 8.1 volts

I did the same, mine kicks off at 8.3 volts,

Used it for a couple of years, never a problem
