Where did you get those with the rivits on them or did you do that yourself?---Smitty
Not me, not that crafty. After an extensive search for exit covers I found them at Aircraft International - The exit covers come just like what you see, I painted them white. I extended the exit hole, it didn't fix the cable rub, cut away some Ultracote and used a little canopy glue to make sure the exit covers will stay put. The promo picture of the Sukhoi shows TREYES used them too, but didn't paint them white. 3 inch control arm is the answer.

That looks good! Here is my instrument panel.--Smitty
Looks nice. I am going to try for a little more scale panel and location plus a 3D cockpit picture/decal. After I saw the full scale drawing and saw where the cockpit fits in the fuselage I decided I had a chance to make it somewhat like that. I have to do something during the off season so I'm fixing the rubbing cables, copying your engine decal/cooling idea, putting in a cockpit/dashboard decal plus that little grab handle and adding some fake brake lines to the landing gear.

I am scratching my head on the engine decal because the cowl does not slide on due to my exhaust pipe being a little long, the cowl actually goes on a high angle first then straighten outs so I either cut the pipe or make the engine decal plate mount after the cowl is mounted - yuk. I'm leaning towards cutting the pipes because the real engine is set back a bit and I want to try to do that. I'm using Decal Dennis' engine just because it's a Russian engine picture but after working with Eric at BandE I have decided BandE is slightly better for my needs.

Say AstroHog is that a 50cc plane like mine, if so how does it fly?---Smitty
Yep, that was the first production PAU 50 cc Sukhoi! GREAT flying plane! It was my first round-cowl plane, so it was a bit different than the Edges and Extras that I was used to at the time, but it was an absolute BLAST to fly! I finally sold it a couple of years ago with many hundreds of flights on it. If I remember right, I moved the CG a bit farther forward than how I normally set up an Extra or an Edge to get it to MY liking, but it flies sooo clean, the roll-rate was blistering and tumbles were off the charts!!!

I am sure you will enjoy yours as much as I did mine.

Regards,

Astro

It's a super fun plane, I agree with Astro on CG. I flew it "neutral" where I set most of my planes but it was way more fun to fly just a tiny bit nose heavy. Even harriers were more controllable. Tumbles were amazingly scale!!

So far that's the only plane I was able to do a nice tail slide with, last time I flew it I but I made it 30 feet or more. Pretty sweet.

The plane is finished, I did the last of routing the wires to make it look nice and put the charging ports in. Finished it up and cranked the engine up. She cranks up so easy, but I think I may be on the lean side on the low end. When I come back to idle from wide open it takes about 10 seconds to slow all the way down. It will drop right where it should from mid range, but from WO it will come down to a high idle and after about 10 seconds it drops down to a good idle. Here are the latest pictures. Thanks everyone for the suggestions as I was going forward on the build. There are a couple of pictures of my deal with the straws in the cowl to be able to tune the engine while it is running.----Smitty
