Ah surströmming! I've had it a few times, but I can't say I'm a fan. However, I have some friends who are true afficionados! The smell is like nothing you've ever felt. There are no words in the English language to describe the smell. The only saving grace is the "brännvin" which tends to make you stop caring about the smell as the night goes on.
