Weather has been terrible. We had the second wettest May on record. Already had a few inches of rain in June...

Finally got to maiden my Ahi, winds were light and just a few feet in altitude gains but it flew great!View attachment 118110

had a flying buddy join me with his arm soar deviant. Thing flew extremely well!

I had a goose visitor at the airport and man was she purdy.

Congrats on the Ahi maiden!
And that’s one gorgeous Goose!

Threw my mini-dart after work yesterday and not only did I catch an interest with a group of young kids that were part of a robotics class... but I finally caught some wicked thermals. They were big enough I could circle inside them without loosing altitude and really noticed when I left the bubble. The first big thermal this plane has seen. Kids were wanting the chase the plane upon every landing... luckily it all ended well. I explained how the glider works mechanically, and how it stays up in the air as long as I had it. Then gave them all a turn to feel it and see how light it was. There were a few kids genuinely interested in the flying aspect of the glider and were engaged with my talk. It was very rewarding for me.

This must have been the week for teaching kids, as last week I had a similar opportunity by being invited to give a flight demonstration inside a middle school gym. They LOVED it! I flew my JTA 33" Slick, and towards the end they were egging me on. Ended up flying through the rafters and making the crowd go wild LOL. It was a blast and equally rewarding!

I got a text earlier this week from the Extreme Flight pilot Antonio De Souza about whether I was flying my big Sukhoi. Still needing some help he quickly offered and we meet an the field today. A few flights of his own as he continues to dial it in then handed it off to me and away I went. We have a tight field when you're using my piloting skills so we spent a lot of time working on landing approaches. That Sukhoi will float so slow it's hard to trust it.

He suggests I work on knife edge spins. I'm looking for more of a flat spin but doing what I'm told, when all the sudden I recognize it. Round and round I go knife edge spinning away.

Anyway, ran out of daylight, fuel and time but not grins. Very fun day. More please.

Sounds like a great day!

A few more flights with the 40% Sukhoi today. Gawd it's a pain to land on a small field. But, I'm going to be a better pilot because of it. I need another prop............

Sound like big plane problems LOL! I know all about small field landings in tight spots... I dead sticked my new 89" laser on the second flight to a perfect landing. lucky to have airspeed and altitude on my side.
