The big problem is that fixed wing aircraft got put together with drones. I believe it was MAAC that got greedy and thought we can make a lot of money from the drones we are All one happy family. Well I guess not. Very little drones joined MAAC but we all got painted with the same brush, this is how we got into this big mess. It could be the end of MAAC.
With no provision. All of us suffered when congress pushed the FAA here to provide a solution quickly. That’s no easy feat for the government. The FAA here is essentially being pushed.
AMA is the same, what’s different is the FAA worked with AMA to create nomenclature for a CBO (Community Based Operator) this gives flexibility for others to become a CBO as well as AMA. Unlike MAAC… MAAC was greedy and creating a provision for only themselves. That’s what any operator would do to survive. Without it they are just insurance like the AMA.
My take away is we need to be active in guiding our leadership (congress, FAA, MAAC, AMA) with solutions and ideas - not just whining…. I do a lot of the latter LOL
This isn’t over, I honestly believe we will be integrated better. Technology isn’t there yet to comply which will delay things, There is so much legacy model aviation and drones out there that it’s impossible for this much government oversight, kids and adults use this hobby as a Segway to full scale - it’s factual and I’m living proof as well. There most be a responsible way to govern this and make the necessary provisions…. There I go whining LOL
Where’s the call to act? I feel dumbfounded to the point I’m not sure what to ask of my congressmen. How much information is enough or too much?
Maybe I’ll write a detailed essay…
