Since the weather was not suitable for flying in the Sandhills of NC did some "depot maintenance" on my birds. The extra got a nice wax job! Noticed the cowl was loose and one of the attachment points had come unglued, so re-glued with some medium ca and should be good to go!

Noticed the cowl on the Ultimate, around the header, was damaged due to some vibration and being cut too close for the heat of the muffler, so dremled out a little bit and looks good!

I did some more work on my canopy today. I sanded out all the cracks, and then filled the bad spots with Dolphin Glaze, a lightweight pourable polyester filler. I used a really high tech tool to smear the glaze, my finger. I feel that works best one small things.

After the glaze set a little while I sanded it and got the whole thing ready to prime. I primed it with Nason 421-19 primer.

Now I have a fresh canvas to paint on.

Well tonight I built me up a new fuel tank for my DA 70 EF Extra. I was not a fan of the round 24-25 oz Smart Water bottles. Low and behold the sky has opened up and everyone now seems to be carrying 24 oz tanks now and look pretty good too. Because I have several PSP setups so I just picked up one of the new Fiji 24oz (excuse me 700ml) bottles of water and first enjoyed the drink then built my tank. Winter maintenance early.

The kadet went back on the workbench last night. Hope over the next week and a half to finish the repairs and have it ready to fly again. This thing is actually a pretty cool plane and want to build one for myself. I will be bashing the heck out of it if I do though. Let's see these things sound like fun. Increase the size of the control surfaces, remove the dihedral, barn door ailerons, flaps, bush tires, and DLE 20 for power.

Yes. I was visiting my daughter for the holidays and here local grocery had single bottles of them. They are just the right stiffness too.
