Probably should not have done this, but I just couldn't resist breaking into the CMP 50cc Edge. Why? Cuz it's there. LOL. Seriously, I really wanted to see what the overall quality of this ARF is. It's really not too bad. There are a few things I don't like about it. But nothing that would deter the average builder/assembler. The covering is actually really nice. Considering it has been sitting in a box for who knows how long. A little shrinking, (not that we are not expecting something like that from an ARF) but still pretty nice all the same.

The construction seems to be really good too. I certainly have seen far worse. Not too sure I like the "pocket" style hinge lines. I mean, they are a great scale feature. But really not done correctly. In order to get good throw from the surfaces, there will have to be some sort of modification done. Leaving the surfaces out from the trailing edges of the flight surfaces really should not be an option. "IF" I choose to build/assemble this I do have an idea on how to remedy that hurdle. The canister tunnel is completely enclosed. (Which I like) Firewall is glued in and done right. I don't see the need for the aluminum brackets like on the bigger planes. I also like the fact they took into consideration the gas pedal servo location. And a few other really minor things. But nothing a guy could not handle. Considering the cost of the total package and the cost of what it will take to get it airborne, It should be a worthy venture.

I decided I just "HAD" to see what it would look like all assembled. Hmm....I kind of like it. How about you guys?

But as I have always maintained, If I don't have a bird to build and the weather sucks so bad I can't fly then I would probably be working. And if I wasn't working, I would probably get interested again in .... in .... "ugh, gurls". Yuck, they have cooties.

I have to agree with you Mike. I think if it wasn't for the scheme, I probably would not even be considering building it. The lines of the plane are quite attractive too. As I mentioned earlier, there are a few things about it that would need alterations. But certainly not a deterant from building it. Heck, I remember a certain PAU that was pure junk when I purchased it brand new. Needless to say, I myself no longer have said PAU.

Does look like a nice plane. How much throw do you get with the elevator hinges as is ? Are the ailerons done the same?

Started trimming away all the flashing from the plastic parts and even got the dash cut out to fit. Thought it appropriate to have a hot engine light under the oil temp and pressure gauge .

That is looking good like the red light. Is the dash going to be painted or is staying that colour. Good start.

Looking through the pictures again and noticed that the engine in the box does not have any red in it. Looks like a 50cc engine. You need to be building something for that beautiful 110 cc red head you just got.

Not much Kelly. Probably 10 to 15 degrees. Yes, the ailerons and rudder are the same. But my plan is, I will heat and pull back the covering on all the flight surfaces. Then cut the top and bottom lips off the trailing edge of all the flight surfaces. Then lay the covering back in place. Or... if someone has a better idea, please chime in. I'm not looking for perfect on this plane. I think I will build it. I am going to use it for my "safe bankrupting" down low maneuvers. Lol

The 110 can wait. There's always time for a cs dub. The DLE 55 in the box may not have any red on it, but they sure run like they do. My son's 55 now has over 450 flights after 6 years and never been broken open. All three of my previous 55's were like his. Run like a precision made clock. I suppose I could always paint the cylinder red if it will help you like it better.

Yes the dash is getting painted flat black with silver trim rings. I have to take the wind screen back off for access for painting flat black up front too. Lots to be done. The deck in the cabin will be treated with seven 1/8" strips of cut sandpaper (reddish orange color})about 12" long to mimic "nonskid" . All of the control housings that go in will be flat black with red and white control knobs. The dash will also get 6 additional cap screws (rivets like I did on the wind screen retainers). The red light is actually the LED on the RcExcel ignition cut off switch.

Well... since all the control surfaces have not been glued in, this would be very easy to achieve. However I'm not sure exactly how to go about it. I do understand what you're surfin' t-wards the shore at brau... but really like not sure man what your brain waves are sayin'. Here, lemme snap a couple of Polaroids for ya. Maybe we can get on the same frequency.
