The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I picked up a free treadmill a while back and pulled the motor for upgrading my lathe. Last night I decided to do a little work on the motor in preparation for the transplant. I pulled the flywheel off. Then the motor face cap, which had very large skirt that needed to come off. I was able to try out the outside jaws on my mini lathe chuck for the first time. It worked out great. Now I just have to figure out the pully system.

I pulled a new canopy for the Bob Godfrey One Design while pulling the windows for the Cherokee. Have the canopy mounted and put the Missle Red basecoat/clear coat on it. Tore of the old Monokote and prepped for covering, might start today since it is raining in the Burg, the airframe is 12 years old and was copied from the original Godfrey built One Design. Fall is in the air, starting to think about what's next.

Covered the bottom then laid out the white/red line. Since the line runs over the open bays the white Monokote is applied over the open bays and then punctured about every 1/4" to vent trapped air, the top covering is ironed on with high heat. Not sure if I will do the same with the black strips. Almost time to put everything back together.

No, that was the Cherokee. This plane is 12 years old and needed a little TLC, the canopy was broken and there where several patches in the Monokote.

Not my own shop, but I did start cleaning up an old LeBlond 17" lathe I'm going to get to use whenever I need. Just need to find some tool holders for it and learn how to grind HHS better. Hey David, you don't have some old Armstron style tool holders in junk box some where do you??
