Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

Laid out a perpendicular bisector on top of the bench with a large compass, the plane was aligned to the line and vertically plumbed. The tube supports plates were drilled together so that they are same height. A short piece of socket was laid up with carbon powder added to reduce friction, this was vacuum bagged so it is a good fit. The socket is glassed to the rear former with yarn harvested from 40 ounce glass cloth. Picked up this tip over at RC Scale Builder, the author used this heavy yarn to install formers in glass fuselage. after this cures the bottom of the socket will get the same treatment then the socket will have a piece of carbon fiber vacuum bagged over it to the former. The rear former is removable, it currently has 4 - 3/16" dowel pins and will have 4-40 screws once completed.

I'm curious about your rudder linkage on post #231 & 249. What's the threaded rod screwing into and how is it retained in the clevis? Thanks

The linkage is Rocket City strip aileron linkage. The clevis just snaps onto knuckle, it is stiff, need to use a screwdriver to bend it open to get it on, it's not coming without a screwdriver. They made great linkages fittings, fire in their factory closed them down in the early 2000's. I buy any that I find at flee markets, I do enjoy rummaging through those boxes of DuBro, Klett, Carl Goldberg and occasionally a Rocket City part, you know the box that someone just emptied a peg board wall of RC parts into. Their rod ends were silky smooth.

Have the stabilator coped out and laid 2 layer of carbon fiber on the foam. Ready to cut the anti servo tab loose.

Also finally finish the bottom door hinge.

Started laying out the stabilator control linkage as well. The servo will be mounted on the front side of the rear former. A Rocket City rod end fitting that accepts 8-32 bolt is used along with a DuBro heavy duty rod end. Plan to fit a short piece of dowel inside the tube, drilled and tapped for 8-32. The side of the tube opposite of the bolt head will be counter bored and fitted with a 8-32 threaded insert. A very short 4-40 threaded rod will connect the two rod ends.
