3D When is a plane used up?

Dang it!! I just ordered from @Taildraggerrc yesterday and never saw those!! I have a couple uses for those.....one is receivers and the other is an Aura gyro I bought from Flex. I guess I'll add it to the shopping list.

Great job on the rudder horns:way_to_go:

Not that you want to do that much surgery but moving the stab up quite a bit would really change that plane.....sorry bugs me every time I see it I get a twitch and want to grab a saw.

I actually considered doing it on this plane. One day I will experiment with it. I know all the reasons Tony puts it there but it does look funny so low. I have been playing with how to do it in my head for a while. When I try it I'll consult with you on it. :)

Both look DONE....but the 87" Extra (Red one) only needs the forward 1/2 of the fuse rebuilt, and I have the 3DHS motorbox kit. Also have wings, stabs, canopy, landing gear and cowling from my first one....so it WILL fly again.

The 105" Extra (Green) is history!
Moral of story.....Even after the carnage....NEVER GIVE UP! :dancing-chicken:

Probably a lot less critical on the sizes you fly but as they get smaller that low stab get's blanked out with dirty air from the wings in harrier, makes a mess. You have a solid 1.5 acres of elevators back there on a 40% and a prop wash the size of a honda so you don't feel it.

I've been pretty lucky, I've only splattered two planes to the point of needing a garbage bag. Evidently a 480 size electric is not the thing to put a .15 glow engine on. I promptly discovered what "flutter" is all about LOL!!! That thing musta been doing 50mph before it turned to tooth pics in the air! Second was when I learned that 4.8v. batteries and a first gen. DX7 are NOT good together. Brown out on another glow plane and had to dig my engine out of the ground.

Since then it's been just some rash here and there (knocking on wood right now) from being a 3D lover.

I have finished the fuse with the exception of the cowl. I am waiting for a new/used cowl from Buttface. UPS seems to be taking their time with it.
I am happy with the scheme I'm doing. It's pretty basic. No curves to cut or templates to make. It's not my best covering job, more of a kinda rush job. I don't expect this plane to last a long time.

I covered the front of the canopy. I was thinking about painting it but it's so big I did not want the extra weight or time in doing it. Should have the wings finished tomorrow and more pics up I hope.

Came across these pics today of this same plane last year at Nall. I dried it off and flew it later that same day :dancing-chicken:

So I did the re-maiden today. Fly's just like it did before, Awesome! The new ZDZ needs to get broke in a little more but pulls it around like a foamy. I should have the new cowl Monday and start painting it asap. The scheme shows up real good for me in the air. Of course I can see my Spats rudder a mile away  I love the MKS 380 servo's, they are very fast and have great holding power. They feel smooth and precise. I can also tell a difference with the Push/pull over pull/pull, well worth doing to me. Gonna get a few more flights on it tomorrow just to get it a little more fine tuned for the @Joe Hunt event next weekend :brian-banana:

Thanks for following along:)
