I like the idea of a spec class for the same reasons the do it in cars. One thing they do is hand out motors for the day so that no one has an advantage at the big competitions. Since this is not a speed contest and most 3D maneuvers are skill related and not raw power I am not sure the advantage of a spec power system. I however do like having a specified airframe so that all things are equal in the design and aerodynamics. Something like 48" edge class would be cool as this tends to be an entry level 3D ship. Doing a horizon product like the QQ Yak 54 (electric BNF one) or the Visionaire could be done as well.
I still want to work on some sort of flying to music contest. Something quick like a 90 second music clip that is judged based on how well you hit music ques and required maneuvers. Bigger planes would probably suffer in a fast beat music deal in a short time. It could be a crowd pleaser and show the creative side as no 2 routines would be the same. Maybe do a known and unknown. Freestyle is great, but picking the music for someone would take a bunch of the work out of it and make it more accessible. Plus we can all joke about how sick we are of said music peace after listening to it for the umpteenth time.
