My plane originally came with aluminum wing and stab tubes. I purchased carbon replacements to lighten the plane, the manual originaly called for a hole to be drilled and tapped for each wing panel and each stab half. I bought wooden dowels which fit the inner diameter of the carbon tube, I had planned on glueing a small piece in the corresponding tube, and then I intend to screw in a pre-tapped insert. I'm looking at this now and I'm starting to have second thoughts about possibly weakening the tube. Or possibly adding enough weight to the carbon tube to make this a moot point.
I've uploaded a image of what the threaded insert looks like. What's your guidance on this?
I appreciate your help in advance.
