Wing bolt idea

I saw these thumb screw gadgets online and decided to try to add them to a 1/4 nylon bolt. I think they would press fine on a steel bolt but the nylon bolt required some quick dry JB Weld. Looks like it will work.

Yeah, I have some Carden wing bolts that are exactly like this idea (with the steel bolt). Somebody makes them I'm sure. I could probably ask Dennis about where they came from. I do like the nylon version too. The EF 104 has a nylon wing bolt with a smaller type of cap on it. Nylon seems to stay snug. I use nylon thumbscrews on my EF104 canopy now with a bonded washer on it. Faster to take on/off and stays put.

Where did you get these??

I've been using the 1/4-20 by 1" version of these lately and they work great. Head isn't huge
but more than adequate. http://www.mcmaster.com/#94320A742

I can't seem to get the link to exactly the ones I'm using. The part # is correct but it takes me to the detailed drawing, which is different. If you look for Thumb screws, Plastic thumb screws, Nylon with Shoulder, 1/4-20 x 1" you'll find the ones I'm talking about.

I picked up some of those, heads were a tad small, but they would be super if they had a hex head instead of a flat screwdriver head. I actually just picked up some of these glass filled nylon ones with a flange head that work great, just use a socket head screwdriver, super easy and won't strip easily. http://www.mcmaster.com/#91345a688/=10gqg3y
