Wing bolt idea

I simply glue a 1/4-20 nylon wing nut to a 1/4-20 nylon screw and cut the head off the screw. Never had one come loose or break in over 2000 flights.

There is one guy in our club that has these GIANT plastic knobs that has a nut mounted into them. Makes it easy to get them snug and just as easy to remove.

That's the idea. Nylon holds better than steel.

I've been using these on my planes, I epoxy the stud into the wing. I have a tendency to over tighten stuff... I have to be careful not to over tighten the thumb screws or I can't hardly get them back off. There's cheaper solutions but this adds a little bling.

I used JB Weld on the studs on mine. The Chinese blind nuts in the wing were pretty sloppy.

I picked up some of those, heads were a tad small, but they would be super if they had a hex head instead of a flat screwdriver head. I actually just picked up some of these glass filled nylon ones with a flange head that work great, just use a socket head screwdriver, super easy and won't strip easily. http://www.mcmaster.com/#91345a688/=10gqg3y

Actually the picture that comes up from the link I posted isn't what they actually look like. That part number is for a 1/4-20 Thumbscrew with a raised, knurled head that is about 5/8" in diameter and there is no screw driver slot. Not sure why I couldn't get the link to the proper part.
