Great minds think alike, I'm playing with that option too. I'm thinking of CNC'ing some circles that I could wrap with sandpaper sort of like a step drill to make the holes larger. Still pondering. I'll probably do a (re)build thread just for fun.

Terry, the Dalton i am building uses those cardboard phenolics, and i also purchased a Dalton built in 2006, and the wing tube phenolic thru the airframe appears undamaged or anything bad. I say....go for it!!!

To me the home made glass tube fits the best. Just make the sleeves to fit your tube.
