Here's the knowns guys:
Must be performed in a 3 minute flight window
Horizontal Knife Edge 8
Starting upright/level from either left or right, the model rolls to Knife Edge. The model executes a 90 degree KE turn away from the judges and centered directly in front. The model executes a 180 degree roll (pilot’s option on direction) and continues to push outside. It then performs a 360 degree circle in Knife Edge flight, finishing in knife edge away from the judges. The model then executes another 180 degree roll to knife edge and pushes outside in a 270 degree circle. When the model passes the initial entry point, it performs a ¼ roll back to upright. When the wings are level the maneuver is completed.
Key Points:
Constant altitude must be maintained
The horizontal circles must be the same diameter and radius
The center of the circles must be directly in front of the judges
The 180 degree rolls must be consistent (speed) and must match the radius of the circles
4 Point Torque Roll
The model enters from left or right, and parallel to the runway in front of the judges. The model then executes a one (1) turn torque roll stopping the model every 90 degrees from the starting position/heading for a minimum of 2 seconds at each point. The model then exits the Torque Roll on the same heading as entry.
Key Points:
Altitude during the entire maneuver must be the same
Rotation speed between the points must be the same
Consistent timing through all the points
Alternating Four Point Roll
From either direction parallel to the flight line, the model executes a quarter roll followed by a half roll in the opposite direction. The model then executes a second quarter roll followed by another half roll in the opposite direction. The model then executes the third quarter roll, followed by a half roll in the opposite direction, and so on through point #4 until the model ends up in level flight.
Key Points:
¼ Rolls must be the same direction and ½ rolls must be the same direction
Altitude must remain the same throughout
Points must be 90 degrees and 180 degrees
Positioning between the points must be the same
Roll Rates must be constant
Entire maneuver must be centered in front of the judges
Dead Stick Spot Landing
The model must execute a spot landing on the centerline in front of the judges while the engine is off.
Key Points:
Engine must be stopped before turning onto final
The model must land as close to the landing zone line for best score
