Scale Yellow Aircraft P-47

I thought I would show some progress photos of the latest build.
I was trying to stay clear from the RED filler but, it is what it is...
The plane is ready for covering/paint and I thought I would try the Foil. I have a roll of 10 inch but it
layed down like shat! It left little bumps from the adhesive and at this venture I may just paint it.
I will be running a new DLE 61 for a powerplant and Taildragger 123' with a powersafe 9 channel.
Hitec servos and a Jtec pitts.

This will be awesome! Always have been interested in warbirds, but have never purchased anything worth keeping!

What foil covering are you using? I built the wings on the airplane below as a repair job for a friend about 15 years ago. Back then we were using Presto film. It went down pretty well, but the surface needed to be smooth as glass beforehand or it would show through the covering. I want to do a polished aluminum finish using one of the chrome paints you can get now days.

you can see the small bump/ like every where on the film. I did try some new stuff and think I might have the answer .
I picked up a new blending stump and will give it another shot. The plane is perfectly smooth as it sits. I started the canopy last night to think a little more on the finish

I normally don't do much with pilots or cockpits but this one I decided to .
A Warbird without a pilot just doesn't look right in my opinion, especially a bubble.
I found a Gi Joe" Pearl Harbor "edition on Ebay for 40 bucks that will sit in the seat.
Flight metal will start this weekend.
I am debating on what size tank to install. I have a new 61 and have a 24 and a 32 ounce tank I could use.

16 oz tank yields about a 12 minute hard flight on a 3D plane with the 61 so if the warbid is full throttle most of the time I'd guess 8-9 minutes?

I agree, I would use a smaller tank in your case... weight would benefit you, in my experience with other pilots warbirds, they tend to be on the heavy side. So my opinion is to go smaller for the weight.

I finished the fuse this weekend. I am now thinking about the stars and bars and how to paint them on. Do they make a transparent stickyback that I could trace then adhere to the fuse and paint?
The covering went on fairly well, just time consuming. It shines really well and am very happy at this point. I only used a half of a roll of aluminum tape/I was surprised. Hope to get the stab and surfaces next along with the wing( easiest part) to get this ready for paint.

Check out the last photo.. kinda funny
