OK Fellas,

Lets try this again.

Stick 23.jpg

Here I cut the rails for the aileron servo pocket supports.

And here are the rails for the flap servo pocket supports.

Yep we're back is business, so lets continue shall we?

Stick 25.jpg

Here is the inboard end of the 1/4" x 1/2" bottom front main spar. Remember, the wing is being built upside down n the jig. The extra spaces you see are for the partial front sheer webs that go on both sides of the spar. If you look closely, you can see the same spaces in the rib doublers at the top main spar below the holes for the wing tube socket. BTW, the large tab at the far right with the hole is for the wing bolt. Yes, that's three layers of 1/8" ply you're looking at. And people wonder why this plane is so heavy. . . . .

Stick 26.jpg

And here's a picture of the outboard end of the bottom front main spar. The gap you see at the far left is for one of the pieces of wood that makes up the wing tip. Again, you can see the same gap at the bottom of the rib(s)

Stick 27.jpg

I will have to admit I was dreading getting to this point. . . . :ugh:. The reason is that I knew I had accidently got some glue between the horizontal plywood rib spacer you can see at the bottom of the last picture and the wing support jig you can barely see below and in front of it. . . . .. Anyway, it was time to remove the wing from the jig. I had to do this to install the top front and rear main spars. Luckily I had one of my Buddies give me a hand and we took very long X-acto blades and ran them between the rib spacer and the jig between all the ribs on the front. This accomplished absolutely nothing, the wing was still firmly stuck in the jig . . . . .. Now I knew I didn't get glue anywhere else it wasn't supposed to be so while my Buddy held the root end of the wing up off the table, I took a short piece of dowel and a rubber mallet and held the dowel firmly on top of the jig and tapped it. I repeated this step as I worked my way towards the tip end of the wing, tapping the jig along the way. Actually I did repeated this process for the whole length of the wing three times so I wouldn't put too much stress on the ribs. The FINALLY the wing jig dropped off the bottom of the wing and fell the short distance to the table. Words cannot describe my relief when that happened. . . . . :yesss:

OK story time is over, lets continue.

Stick 28.jpg

You can see in this picture that I flipped the wing over and glued in the top front main spar and the stringer at the front of the fib spacer. Yes there is a gap you can see here, but unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it at this point. I seriously doubt it will be an issue anyway.

Stick 29.jpg

In this picture you can see the partial upper and lower sheer webs on the front and back of the bottom main spar. You can also see the first and second full sheer webs in the spaces between the ribs. BTW, they are 1/8" plywood sheer webs and they came pre cut to fit.

Stick 30.jpg

In this picture, you can see more sheer webs as I worked my way out towards the outboard end of the wing.

Stick 31.jpg

And finally, here is the last sheer web. The instructions actually say not to put a sheer web in between the last two ribs. Why, I have absolutely no idea at this point.

Wait, there's more to come, but first another brief detour

Hey @Joshet89,

I noticed in your wing pictures you only had sheer webs on one side of the front main spar. Did you only get 12 WSW2's in your kit too? The reason I ask is that in my instruction book on steps 134 and 135 (I think), the pictures clearly show and call for sheer webs on the front and back of the spar all the way out to the wig tip (minus the last rib bay) . Of course, this means you'd need 24 WSW2's to have enough. What's more confusing is that in the parts diagrams in the front of the book, they only show 12 WSW2's.

Thanks @pawnshopmike, I appreciate the positive comments.

Here is the frame that goes around the aileron servo pocket. You can see where it is keyed into the ribs so there is no way a dummy like me could possibly put it in incorrectly, which by the way, is a good thing. . . . .

Stick 33.jpg

Finally, here is the flap servo pocket frame. . . . . .WHEW.

It was starting to get late at this point and I was quickly running out of gas so I decided to stop. This is where I also realized that I should have waited to glue on the two frames, because I need to take my sanding bar and sand down the ribs that are slightly higher which would have been much easier if the frames were not there. . . . . ;) Oh well, live and learn.

That's all for tonight fellas. I think the remnants of the hurricane that is currently in the gulf is supposed to be off the coast this weekend, so I doubt there will be any flying around here. So I may get some more work done on my Stick, but we'll have to wait and see what the weather does.

I hope the hurricane continues to turn east as it travels up the coast so you gentlemen down South Carolina way won't take a direct hit from it.

Goodnight Fellas, time for my beauty sleep. . . . . :sleepy:

Enjoyed reading the oh :dancing-poop: moment when the wing and jig became one. Purely because I have had similar instances! Well done liberating your wing!
Looking good....Looooking good!
