@ericrs hi Eric how are you doing. Just about to start covering the wings and discovered that I have forgotten to install some hard points for the flat plates on the ends of the wing. What did you end up doing. Did you make them removable or are they fixed. If they are removable what did you do. If they are fixed it could make it painful to put in a wing bag. Do people remove them every time they clean up put the wings in a bag. This is my first plane with wing end plates. Need some help.
I made them removable. I put hard points in the ends of the wings, tapped threads in the hard points and hardened them with thin foam safe ca. 4-40 or 6-32 screw (can't remember which one I used) with a bonded washer to attach it with. I thought about putting a threaded insert in, but I'm going to see how the hardened threads hold up. I have never seen any fixed, and it would make it really a pain when putting them in a bag. I always take mine off when I'm done flying.

Thanks for the prompt reply. You are correct I am on the fence to either thread the wood and harden it or put a threaded brass insert. Leaning towards a brass insert if I am going to the field every time and installing and removing the SFG's I have my concerns of the wood threads holding up. Going to have to give this some thought.

What is everyone else doing leaving them on or taking them off every time.

Is the ViperSt done and have you flown the plane I know the last time you said you are very busy, and almost done I belive.

No I haven't got the Viper done yet. It is close, but ya work has been kicking my butt. I haven't worked on the plane for several weeks, and don't see it working for several weeks yet :concern: I have another non airplane related project for a good friend of mine that will be taking up all my spare time the next few weeks. I will get back to the viper after that, besides it is still cold out probably won't be able to fly very soon anyway.

Winter came and won't let go. 6 inches of white stuff yesterday. I'm assembling a TechOne Thunder 180 for a little indoor precision flying.

The fuse is hollowed out but it is also very thin and fragile. The wing even has a slight airfoil molded in. So light it should fly very well after I get the CG figured out. It seems a little to far back for my skills. I'm not sure if the control surfaces have enough travel :ooh?:

That is one good looking plane. Thanks for doing that. Looks a lot better than those slab planes. Probably flys great.
