Thanks for the positive comments guys. When I started this project I didn't know if anyone would be interested in an old design or not. Turns out there were a few.

Overall I am really pleased with the airplane. I would change a few things next time around. If I ever build another I will extend the nose 2" and widen the fuse 2" as well. I would seriously consider adding 2" to the height of the fuse as well. The clipped wing worked out perfect, and the bigger rons seem to be pretty effective. I think by adding 2" to the bottom of the fuse and the rudder it would help with some rudder effectiveness. I was really struggling on the rudder in those torque rolls because it just isn't as effective as I am used too.

I hope to fly this a lot this summer. Here in Southern IN this time of year the weather stinks for flying. Yesterday was a nice day getting close to 50 but it was really overcast and just kind of gloomy, so it's doubtful this will get much air time until Spring. I am glad that it flew and flew well.

Some things I learned from this build are... When switching to a completely different rx (I had a Lemon 10ch) and it now has a Spektrum 9020 you have to re-trim the plane. I didn't in my haste to get this going, and the first flight was a complete handful to get trimmed. Even the second flight after I rematched my elevators I was fighting elevator trim at first.

Secondly, hand drawn plans just aren't as accurate as the newer CAD drawn stuff. I don't have a CAD program but I think with my tweeks and this being re drawn it could very well be a really great sport model that is capable of some 3D but also a lazy flyer like so many people like.

Thanks again for all who have followed this thread and encouraged me along the way! To me building is half the hobby and I like sharing my projects and I love seeing other's projects as well!

I swapped out the carbon spinner for a DB aluminum and I am still ever so slightly tail heavy. The plane flies well, but she climbs when inverted and I just don't like that in a plane that flies on it's wing. I did fly the hots again last night and the more I fly it the more I like it. I even was able to do some decent one rotation pop tops. It's pretty funny to see a hots do those.

With it being tail heavy I found a new never run Evolution 40GX with the muffler and the radial back plate. This will certainly solve the aft CG, and will also ad more power. The little Syssa 30 runs like a swiss watch but just isn't quite enough power for getting out of trouble low. It hovers and toque rolls fine, but pull out is marginal. I just need to find the time to switch the motors out and get this thing back in the air.

The syssa is going to find a home in my H9 Cub if I ever get around to assembling it.

great build! I'm hoping to scratch build one from plans this winter. Would you recommend the MAN plans, you mentioned they weren't drawn properly?
I'm trying to find a source for plans that are accurate. I will be referring to this thread when build time comes!

I bought plans off eBay and the air age store. Both are exactly the same. From what I have gathered from other threads the Ultra Hots plans have some issues. Where the other size plans have been pretty good.

I'm not sure if you got plans from the Santich website if they are the same or not?

Thanks for the info.
I havent purchased the plans yet.
I suppose someone could increase the size of the hots 60 or reduce the size of the big hots to get the desired span etc. If the other plans are much better .
