This is just my lousy $0.02, but it's also pretty easy to do so take it for what it's worth, but you may want to consider slapping some black creative foam over the top of the baffles to close up the gaps between the cylinder heads and the edge of the plastic baffles. It would keep air from escaping the engine and force it right over the cylinder heads. Especially important in humid weather, as I so found out last year :omg::omg::omg:

On the two strokes I would most definitely agree but these four strokes run much cooler, at least the ones I have ran. On my Pitts I had to baffle air away to get it to run warmer, it was only running 180° to 210° but after baffling a little air away it is up to 270° to 290°.
But if this Laser does run on the hot side I do have plenty of the foam, thanks to you, to close those up.

At least it's an easy 2 minute fix :way_to_go:

By the way, not sure if you're using the bonded washers on the cowl, but I've found that it helps to blow hot air on the bonded washer to help it 'unstick' from the paint on the cowling- if you are using them that is. I've chipped the paint a few times from the rubber not wanting to let go.

I am using some I got from MF, they are real bonded washers, and once screwed on I let the washer stay when removing the screws. I never heard of blowing hot air, I guess it would give the surface of the rubber a harder sheen, kind of like vulcanizing rubber for tires.

I'm using real bonded washers from RTL Fasteners, they tend to stick to the paint when they've been tightened down for a while. A little heat with a heat gun to warm them up (not get them blistering hot) helps them un-stick real quickly.

Nope, with squeezing work on the shop in between rains and trying to keep the property maintained somewhat with all the rains, I just have not had time to do anything with the airplanes. The sheds are scheduled to be butted up together Sunday, then a few days to get them in order, a couple days to put the lean-to's back up, then I may get some time for the toys. Of course the time frame may deviate depending on mother nature, it is starting out to be a very wet summer and I do mean very.

:I_agree:. Know exactly what you mean. Our "Build" season is here :yesss:.
I guess I never thought off it like that. Better to stay inside when it is that hot and build in the air conditioning, makes sense. We build during the winter for the same reason but just the opposite in temperatures. All I do during the summer is just maintenance and the necessary repairs to keep the fleet in the air, and small projects on the side for during Rainey weather.

The shed's are together, well, 2 inches apart anyway. With the rains coming by noon I had them hold it back those two inches to not risk leakage, and they (the rains) came on schedule and was on and off all afternoon/evening. In the morning I will get the roof in order, pull them together, wrap up the roof, and wrap up the outside. I got one lean-to done while they were doing the shed so only one of those left. Then it will be a day getting the inside opened up, then sorting all the stuff back out, so maybe by the end of the week I will be back in the "enjoying the hobby" aspect.
This has been a real PITA venture, mostly due to the weather. But it will be worth it in the end, at least that is what I keep telling myself. Sometimes being a cheap ass is more expensive, but hey I saved 30K.
If I had it to do over I'd spend the 30K!!!!:yesss:
