Things kind of got put on hold being with the funeral, Christmas, new year, and then a week or so hiatus. Was going to get back on the covering this morning but the main iron for attaching is the trim iron and it broke. I ordered another one and it should be here tomorrow. It may still be a slow process as it is to cold (for me) to be outside long and the fumes are to much in the shop. But I will git-er-done on the warmer days and there are plenty of them in the mix, as it is cold for a day or two and then not for a few.
And I just ordered another airframe, a PAU Ultimate and will want to get it assembled. The DLE 111 on the Challenger was sufficient (meaning not authoritative kind of power) as it was but with the Stits it may be a tad week. So I am going to pull it and put a GP 123 on, the 111 will go on the Ultimate.

Wow that is exciting interesting that you bought a Ultimate nice plane had two GarlGolburg Ultimate and really liked them. Why not a EHMW Ultimate.
You are not kidding it’s really starting to get cold here it’s 3.2 degrees Fahrenheit right now and will be going down considerably tonight.

I pick the Ultimate up at 4pm so the Challenger will be on hold for a few days. But just as soon as the Ulti is together I will resume the recover.

I keep finding the same dead ends as well. Over nearly two years of searches have found many articles with a mention of the Red Eagle, only a couple of the Blue, none of the third aircraft. And as you I also chased the N numbers being they were build in order but that did not lead anywhere as you have noticed. Even doing searches of Curtis and his work has yielded nothing but the same, a mention here and there, but nothing tangible. It is hard to believe three aircraft of this type were built, flown around the statue in the manner described, and not one article of the event. There are many articles of everything else and even the bands are noted, but no Eagles. Very sad given what it took to build these aircraft and the celebration they participated in, well, were suppose to have participated in.

Hi there! I'm a new member searching for these planes too and just came across this old thread. I may have some answers to some of these questions around these Pitts planes. I work for skincare company called Kiehl's Since 1851 and the former owner was involved in this 1986 flight around the Statue or Liberty and according to the old pics I have there were at least 5 planes. At least 2 of the planes were kept in the first store (an old pharmacy in the East Village in NYC). I'm attaching some pics of the planes in the store and from the day of the fly around.

The tail #'s of the planes that used to be in the store are N49333 and N49332. Still trying to figure out the tail #'s of the other ones inthe fleet.
My goal is to track down where the planes are now. Has anyone found out additional info since this original discussion?

Hello NYEagle, and welcome to GSN.
I have the tail covering to the original Red Eagle #49333 and a pic of the blue and white, but this is the first I have heard of the two others.
The White Eagle is, according to my pic, tail #49335. And your pic of the Blue Eagle verifies what I thought my blurry pic was 49332. You said according to your pics there were five, could you post those pics showing the other two?

Hi!
What do you mean by the tail cover to 49333? Do you have a pic? Could you attach the pic you have of White Eagle?

I haven't found pics of the other 2 planes yet. I only found a reference to them handwritten on the pic of the 2 planes I attached to the previous post. The handwriting is from the former owner ...he hand wrote on tons of images and posted around the store. Trying to see if there are more old images hiding in an archive.

Here is one more I found of what I believe is the White Eagle from the 1986 celebration. I can't see a tail # on it though, do you?
