I thought I would try to do this one time and see how it goes. The ailerons are supposed to made from 3/8 square balsa. So at the wing it will be 3/8 to match the wing it is actually a little bigger. But I do not like seeing I nice airfoil wing and flat ailerons. So at the wing it will 3/8 thick and the trailing edge of the aileron it will be 3/16 thick. So I have made up a special trailing edge as you can see. It is 3/6 thick and a groove cut into it to insert a carbon strip to give a lot more strength. And hopefully a lot more rigid, and a lighter aileron.

Lookin very good. You are setting the bar pretty high for me to follow LOL.
It’s about time you got started I am building all on my own, when we started all this I was hoping that there would be a bunch of people build it at the same time. I guess I was wrong.

I still need to finish my otter!!! Having a kiddo slowed things down a bit too.... and Hey, we all need a fearless leader - Thanks for plowing a path to follow. I have the plans, goodies, engine, just need the time and the space!

I never worry with lateral balance unless after flying the plane I have to use a lot of aileron trim.

Hatch looks nice. Way more time in it that I spend in making a hatch. I always just do all the sheeting then cut a hatch opening out of it. Trim a 1/16” off of two sides of the hatch piece and then it will fit perfect once covered.

The aileron is built and sanded, it is a lot lighter but it took a little work. It is 3/8 thick at the leading edge and just under 3/16 at the trailing edge. Do not know if I will add the missing diagonal brace it just looks like I needs to be there.

Looking good Snoop, I would add the extra bracing.
Just for shits and giggles, anyone have a clue as to what size wingspan this would need to be for a 38cc four stroke?

Have agree I will add the last brace just for looks.
Wing span for 38 cc just have to sit down for a while and recalculate the additional weight of the 38 cc and additional radio weight if needed. Then go through the WCL and size the sing accordingly to get the same characteristics.

Just curious as I have a NGH 38cc sitting on a shelf and it seems the only thing it will fit is some small military airframes. I have read they run really well and would like to try it out but not a small warbird kind of guy.
