Thanks for that info. You aren't running the Xcub landing gear and the upgraded bush wheels either, right?

@AKNick what did your all up flying weight come out to?

Thanks!

-Clint

Okay I decided to re-weight my plane for ya'll.

DLE55RA, Falcon 23x8CF, 3" center bolt spinner, 2 pulse 2550's, XCub Gear, 8.75" PR Bushweels, 3.25" Dubro Tail Wheel... SIX ounces of sticky weights in the tail.

Per my fish scale.
20.7# empty w/out struts-batteries-fuel-slats
21.0# empty w/out struts-fuel-slats w/batteries
20.9# empty w/struts w/out batteries-fuel-slats
21.4# empty w/struts-batteries w/out fuel-slats
21.9# Loaded w/ 17oz fuel-batteries w/out struts/slats
22.0# Loaded w/17oz fuel-batteries-struts w/o slats (my bathroom scale says it's about 22.3#) FWIW the struts weigh 0.3#

CG 5.125"(5-1/8") w/batteries w/out struts or fuel (tail level flight)
CG remained very close to the same with fuel and struts to my surprise shifting slightly towards the nose coming in at 5"

Shoot for the aft window post for starting CG, mine is just at the aft part of the cabin window post (plastic painted yellow).

Wow! That was really awesome of you to do, Nick! Thanks, those numbers really help give me a better window of where to be. I am currently balanced tail level with wire running off the wing spar which is exactly 4” from leading edge.

Hi,
May be a obvious answer to this, but where (what brand/shop) do you get hold of a suitable 3in Spinner for a gas engine?

True Turn is my favourite in my opinion they make the best and is costly. That is if you use a starter. If you never use a starter then my favourite is the Falcon carbon spinner great looking well made and very light, never ever put a starter to a Falcon spinner.

Unfortunately options are limited. I got a 3" falcon, but the spinner cone hold down screw pattern isn't wide enough apart for a 23x8 prop. It will fit a 20x9 for a 35cc.
I went with a 3" center bolt spinner. You can actually find them very cheap online, quality control isn't very good, but you can get a 3" carbon spinner with a carbon back plate for $20 (usually no center bolt). VVRC sells basically the same thing with 100% markup. I have had one backing plate crack, and a replacement one crack at the spinner flange (both VVRC).... I bought a cheap on online and the cone fit the VVRC purchased Items backplate like a glove... it's still on there now.
The other option would be to find a No-Limitz spinner - the spacing is father apart - as it uses 4 screws instead of six.

Hi,
Thanks gents, yes I use a starter so guess it rule out the carbon option..

The RCGF56 have the 4-screw fastening.

Will have a look for the Falcon and True-turn spinners.

Another thing; Found several cheap options but using wooden propellers mean that the center body of the prop is to bulky to fit spinner. Do you experience the same?

I have a 3" falcon spinner sitting here and it will fit a Vess 20A wood prop and the falcon 20x9 CF. It does not fit the falcon 23x8CF - it hits the mounting tabs.

UPLOADED my Tailwheel fork to Thingiverse! That was a long time in the making. Now anyone with a printer can give it a whirl.
