I read the first two thirds of this thread @AKNick and am impressed with your simple but elegant radio install. I' new to the forum here and have had a lot of experience with 40% scale aerobatic planes but, that was 20 years ago and there were only a few 2.4 gig radios ... yes that long ago. I'm 74 now and am getting back into the hobby here in the Philippines, ( almost like being in Alaska as far as getting parts). I was drooling over this plane but there was no way to get one here for less than 1,000 bucks. Until I tripped on a local hobby shop that has one in stock and the price is right. So now facing the set up, wonder if you could tell me about your dual battery set up? are you using a dual battery gizmo, and or a BEC and forgoing an ignition battery? aside from that would love to know where you sourced the braided servo wire sheaths and 20 gauge wire, connectors etc. thanks for a super build thread! I already planned on using the multiplex wing connectors but will attempt to engineer them into a plug and play solution.

Welcome to GSN! I’m sure getting parts is easier here than there!!! I used 72MHz for years!

One more question, will save me guessing... what diameters are the two braided sleeves you are using there, many thanks again!

Just arranged for delivery of my Timber 110, the only one left for sale in the Philippines. My "local" hobby shop is 570 kilometers away, by several boat rides, or a flight. so it took some doing to arrange logistics. Tomorrow it ships from Manila, hopefully be here by weeks end, and in good shape. I won't do another build thread, but since I've been absent from big airplanes, I may have some questions along the way. pics are my plane being inspected in the Manila Hobby shop. they took it out and thoroughly checked it for damage and put it all back together as per original (I Hope). 152701640_232475735044793_7485487432986555938_n.jpg 152704481_423415215594279_5894718509779657183_n.jpg

Welcome to GSN John! And the Timber Club! Take some time to click through this thread, lots of valuable information!
Thanks Nick, I have already been through this thread a few times, lots of good info. I will model my electronic install on yours as it it a simple sound approach. I don't want to get into the Power Box thing on this plane as it is not so critical on a plane like this. My issue is radio selection, I have a cheap RadioLink AT10II for some small foamies, but I don.t want to use it on this plane. Looking at JR which I only just realized was still in business. I flew JR exclusively as a Team JR member when Horizon had the line 20+ years ago. Also considering Spektrum. I considered open TX, but after looking hard, it seems too steep a learning curve for me. The last big plane I configured was the 46% Ultimate pictured in my Avatar, In those days I used one rx and several Nihmi packs and a half dozen Matchboxes. That was State of the art then. No 20 gauge wire or high voltage stuff, and 72 Megaherz ! Showing my age.
Thinking of using a 40cc RCFG Stinger twin, a it looks as if it might almost fit. But I like the idea of the power of the DLE 55. Decisions decisions. Sourcing even CA or good epoxy here is problematic, so it will be a slow build.

JR America’s went under and JR\Propro was re-emerged with DeForce. They make a great system. @Snoopy1 can tell you about his recent purchase. Lots of other contenders out there. Modern computer radios are pretty amazing.

The only thing to keep in mind so the the 40cc twin is a lot of them don’t hand start easy. The 40T will stick out the cowl I’m pretty sure. I’m pretty happy with the DLE55RA. Easy to hand start

Take a good look at the JR-DMSS radio just bought one and very happy with it. If you have any questions let me know.

Got some sick video, but at the cost of my elevator. It’s repairable. I’m pretty excited about this aerial footage. Had a couple landings with zero ground speed with the wind blowing about 0-12+mph.
If I recall correctly, had to crab the plane on short final with losses and gains which led to full up elevator, left wing down, and ended up clipping the water/sand with the counterbalance.
