IMAC Terryscustom 35% MXS-ST Prototype

Since the release of the Viper for production I've gotten this question at least a half dozen times......"Is it IMAC legal"? Well the short answer is yes, but the long answer is going to require me to build another plane!:dancing-chicken:

OK, so some of you that followed me over on FG may remember that I designed and built a series of MXS's. I started with the 42%/170cc version. I then did the 37%/120cc version that was a fairly large plane at just over 110". That one was pretty popular and we actually produced a small run of kits along with the planes I build and sold.

So then came the 70cc "Viper" was actually a scaled down MXS which we have since axed (because it was a little too large for a 70cc engine) and made the "Viper-ST" which is for all general purposes specifically designed for 3D in a true 35% MXS body (with a few mods).

Here are a few pics of the MXS's that I have pics of. A couple of the kits that were sold I do not have finished pictures of:

So here are a few pictures of the Vipers, full scale MXS's and superimposed Full scale over top of the existing Viper. You can see that it is WELL within the 10% rule, but we are going to take it a bit further yet.....

As a matter of fact I started my MX layout by tracing three side views of full scale birds and taking the average of all three. The rudder shape has changed slightly on the new Fibertech version because of a limitation with the CNC foam cutting, but it is still well within the 10% outline.

So, I have been doodling with the CAD files and I made several small changes with the wings, wing placement, stabs and a few other small things. I am going to build this prototype using all the carbon and lightening techniques that I did on my Yellow version which should yeild me a 25lb. plane with a strong DLE111 on the nose.

The plane is exactly 35.07% to scale. One thing I will not do initially is make a new cowl, it will use the Viper cowl, which is still probably more scale than some of the old kit cowls I've seen!. If we start selling some of theses and get the requests from people who have actually purchased one I may do a more scale cowl. Simply put it takes a TON of time and costs a LOT of money to make a really nice production plug / mold.

First kit is hot off the press:

New Mx's , cool. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Hey, glad you found the thread. @rcbuff22 is the one hiding behind is MX next to my Viper in the first post. He was brave enough to build one of the first kits I ever produced. We've come quite a ways since then with materials and process so I appreciate his trust (bravery;))!!!

This plane will also be available in kit form through Fibertechnmore.com VERY soon. I may actually have this prototype for sale when complete so if you are interested....stay tuned;)

Terry, I almost believe you would rather design and build as opposed to fly. lol I really enjoy watching your projects.

Fooled you!! I LOVE to fly, but I really like to build as well. Thanks for joining in.

Just finished my last post and the mailman walked in and brought me a little present from TNT! Their tubes seem vary in quality from batch to batch sine they get them from oversees, but the ones I got here fit the tubes VERY nice.

Also just got a text from @Fibertech and he will be working on the CNC cut foam shortly for this build as well:fist_pump:
