Robart Electric Retracts

If you end up dissatisfied with your Robart gear, (or even for your next plane) you might check out Sierra. The customer service is slow but I just got mine that I ordered 2 months ago and wow they are pretty impressive. I wonder how they compare weight wise to the Robart equivalent.. These things are SOLID but I bet (hope) they will stand up to just about any abuse I can throw at them. They are pneumatic and I wanted electric, I want the gear to work every time even more though lol.

I hope your Robart gear works out for you, it sounds like they are taking care of the issue.

I think they are. Except for the catch between the frame and the yoke, they worked great. If it hadn't been for the fact that the catch stalled the retracts when I put wheels on them I could've lived with it the they were. Hopefully Ill get them back next week.

Camss69 I have converted a few sierra units to electric using Lado Actuators, its an easy mod and keeps all the strength of the sierra units along with the convenience and reliability of electric units.

I looked at their site and wasn't sure what I needed to do the conversion. I may do it later I already bought all the stuff to do the air setup so I think I'm just going to go air..

I got the retracts back from Robart last night. I haven't had time to install them yet, but from what I can tell just by looking, they have new bronze bushings and I think the side frames are different. The net cost to me was only the time between the 15th of May and the 16th of June. Not the turnaround that I expected, being that it was a warranty issue from a manufacturing defect. but, as far as taking care of the issue, seems like they stood behind them without any problem.

I'll post a new video like the one I did at the beginning of this thread. No prep, no pre-staging, just a raw video of the first time I run them just like they came out of the box. That way, everyone can see exactly how they work and make up their own minds based on pure, objective data.

I mentioned that the battery might be an issue, but A123 batteries put out the same voltage regardless of the capacity remaining so I don't think that's a problem. Before I send them back to robart again, I'm going to see if I can resolve the issue myself. I'll keep you informed.
