3D Fibertech Hyperlite Slick 540 Build Thread

What Terry said. It's actually a very good question. I can't believe with all the building I did in the 70's, 80"s and 90"s I ask the most basic newbie questions of Rick and Terry. Not sure what I would do with out all that knowledge and help. Going to try and put up some good pics tonight.

Brings me to another question I think I now the answer too: It won't hurt to use one side that is cut more in an angle? I think that's what you are saying Terry? Thanks,

Thanks Rick. I spent so much on the 1/2" stock I may laminate another piece on rather than buy more 3/4" or just leave it and hope for the best.

These pieces are glued onto the leading edge and trailing edge on the hinge line of the wings, stabs after cutting out the control surfaces. They are cut in and angle and the thicker they are the more angle they can be cut.

Question, I am looking at the wood for the L.E. and T.E. that I need to angle cut. Is 1/2" wide enough to get good throw for 3D flying? I am thinking I need 3/4" and remove more foam?

I was happy with the sanding on the glue. It actually sanded off easy. I know Rick, the darn epoxy is so heavy. Got some work done tonight but did not get pics so tomorrow I'll get some pics. Things kind of slow down now. Doing some test fitting of things, mostly the engine. Spent an hour...

I mounted it on purpose. I will be using a laser to mount the vertical stab and have set temp mounts for it. Hard to explain but I have done it on scale planes many times. I will take pics when I install it. Yea, learning a lot about the new glues these days.

Crap!!!!!!! I just did a few small things on the build at the end of last week. Covered upper and lower decks and then glued the upper deck and I am pissed. I consider myself a very detailed and clean builder. I come from the old days when we had three glues; epoxy, CA and wood glue. I decided...

That's what makes these things so dangerous. Someone who is not capable of flying it, has no business flying it in a populated area and will kill someone very soon.

The FAA could very well possibly ground all of us. The AMA needs to show the FAA that these "Drone" problems do not have anything to do with us.
