    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Tonight's mission.... Figure out how to cut the tail gear doors apart. After considering multiple options, I went with a fine tooth razor saw and the cut came out perfect, except for some paint chipping at the edges. They are painted plastic so I kind of expected that, I have some touch-up...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Got a few more parts off the bench and into the plane tonight. I usually try to do a nice clean install. This plane, even though it's a 60cc has just a ton of stuff in a really small space. The air cylinder from Horizon came in today. Same part number as I ordered before except this one fits...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

IT'S RAINING! We've been in a drought the last several years and rain has been pretty scarce in Nor-Cal so it was nice to work in the garage to the sound of the rain! It's been dumping most of the day. Horizon is sending me the right air cylinder. At first they didn't want to send it because...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Nice Cricket install, I put mine in before I had the telemetry but they still look cool!

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Took a run at the tailwheel installation tonight. The steering is setup with a set of pull-pull cables and then the retract mechanism is pushrod actuated off a pneumatic cylinder. I started making up the ends of the cables on the tailwheel side first. Just following the instructions. The...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Thanks!! I've seen a couple ESM planes in person and they seem to be pretty nice. They had a cool looking P-39 but doesn't look like you can get it anymore. I'm waiting to see what Extreme Flight does with their Warbird line. Hopefully they do some different stuff, a Skyraider would be cool!

    Moving to High Voltage

Are they just discharged too much? I'm not familiar with that charger but you want to charge Fromeco LiIons on the LiPo setting of your charger. If they are discharged too much it's probably going to read them as incorrect battery type. If they are just too low a voltage for your charger to...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Spent the evening figuring out how to program the xbus gear door servos. I need to mount the Xport Duo soon and once I do the connections for the xbus input, xbus output and switch are going to be difficult to get to. So... I figured now would be the time to program the xbus 4 servo converter...

    Moving to High Voltage

I've recently gone back to LiIon from LiPo because I like to be able to charge in the plane. I ran LiPo for several years for all the reasons mentioned but I hated not being able to leave them on charge and walk away. They also don't like to be left fully charged for long periods of time, and...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

A couple of weeks ago when I was in San Diego for work I ended up with most of Friday free before my plane left at 5:00. So I decided to go to the USS Midway museum. I was in the Navy so the actual ship wasn't anything new, I was there to see the planes. There was a Corsair, here are the pics...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Elevators hinged, pushrods and linkages installed. Even the pushrods are heavy, the ones for the elevators are 45" long! Had to run to the LHS and buy some less heavy duty servo arms, the ones I bought were too big to clear the side of the fuse. 10 bucks and the problem was solved. Set the...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Stab tubes and stabs glued on today, good news is they fit really nice and tight, no gaps. Started making up the battery lead extensions. Going to work on getting the elevators hinged and installed the rest of tonight/tomorrow. The parts box and number of pieces on the shelf for the plane are...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Installed the rudder tonight. Glued in the rudder hinges and setup the linkage and pushrod. All the linkages for the plane are internal except for the ailerons. This tail area is going to be really busy. The elevator pushrod linkages, rudder, tailwheel retract and tailwheel steering cables...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Got the last satellite receiver mounted tonight. The DMSS receivers have the 6" wire with the antenna at the tip so I had to figure out how to mount them. They are all mounted and as neat as I could make them. Next up is the rudder installation, again it has a bunch of rub marks from being in...

    Regulator info needed

If they are working and the wire looks to be in good condition I'd use them. They are adjustable, I'm sure you can still get the manual online and if not I'm sure they would send it to you. I had several back in the day. What else do you need to know?

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Got some help from some little 6 year old hands tonight. Way easier to reach in and start the zip ties. Got 2 out of 3 satellite receivers mounted and the main part of the infinity receiver. Made up the pushrod for the air valve and set the throws on the retract servo. Patched one of the two...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I dug a box out of the rafters that I thought had a bunch of scrap wood in it. When I opened it, it had a bunch of rolled plans I forgot about. Goldberg Ultimate, Ultrasport 1000, Stinger 40, and Top Flite .60 size Corsair. Cool!

Scale Balsa USA 1/3 Scale Super Cub Kit " NIB "

Here's a pic how much the spark plug caps stick out. He had this engine on his 35% Carden Yak and then decided to build this plane so he bought a DA100L for the Yak and put the D&B in the Cub. He built several sets of these floats and always complained about how much work they were.
