Scale Balsa USA 1/3 Scale Super Cub Kit " NIB "

Here's a pic of the floats hanging on the wall. If I lived closer to somewhere I could float fly the plane I'm sure I'd put the floats on it. Mine has a D&B 5.1 (83cc) engine in it and it fits except for the spark plug caps. It has plenty of power, a 70 would easily fly the plane. Take off...

Scale Balsa USA 1/3 Scale Super Cub Kit " NIB "

Thanks, it's fun to fly on calm days, when there's a lot of wind it's kind of a handful on the ground with the full size wing. On a calm day shooting full flap touch and go's is a blast. Last time I had it out I think I flew it 4 times because the conditions were so good. I'd love to see it...

Scale Balsa USA 1/3 Scale Super Cub Kit " NIB "

Yep, I don't have a lot of pics of it at the field really, a good friend of mine built it. It's covered with fabric with the stits (?) stitching and painted with PPG paint. The last pic is of the full scale it was modeled after. He also built the matching floats which I have hanging in my...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

The plane itself, the wooden structure is great, very nice. My two biggest complaints are parts like gear doors and hatch covers are made of plastic and the covering is marginal at best. I get it, it's like trying to cover a bowling ball, there's not a straight line on the plane but there's...

Older 3W and DA for First 40%er

The last engine I bought was a used DA 120. I'm normally a never buy used kind of guy but that engine has been awesome. I figured with the DA I'd buy it and fly it and if I had a problem then send it into DA. DA recommended I do the same. I did ask the guy how he did break-in and what oils...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

So the cover that is supposed to go over the battery compartment didn't fit, had to file all the holes oblong but it fits now and you can't tell. Putting the cockpit floor in was a MAJOR pain in the rear. I looked at it, my daughter looked at it, my wife looked at and and we couldn't figure...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Receiver batteries came in on Monday. When I got into giant scale I started with Fromeco LiIon's, replaced them in later builds with LiPos for cost and current capabilities, then tried the LIfePO4's (a weaker A123), then back to LiPo, but recently have come back to LiIon's. LiIon's don't seem...

    3D SWB Wire Tensioner

I use 7 Strand brand coated leader line along with their crimps for pull pull cables.. Seems to stretch much less than most of the stuff supplied with the planes. I've never had to replace it before.

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Out of town all week for business.. Had about an hour today to work on the plane. Dremeled out the gauge holes on the plastic dashboard so the gauges on the decal would show through. Added a little silver and red paintpaint and it looks pretty good I think. I don't think it's to scale...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Worked on the Corsair in between the kids 3 basketball games today. Air tank is permanently mounted, back side of the cockpit is installed, started working on the air valve mount. Starting getting he dashboard trimmed to fit. I'm going to try to mount the switches, air fill and pressure...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Made it to the field today, after the rain cleared out the wind came and it was COLD. Got one flight in and went home, too cold and it ain't fun no more.

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Attempted to go flying today, it was raining in the morning but with the expectation it would clear up in the afternoon we headed to the field. It did clear up, totally clear skies but with the clear skies came a freezing cold wind! Flew once and headed home to work on the Corsair instead...

    Hangar 9 60cc Corsair Build

Mounted the rudder and elevator servos. Fit the Sierra air tank, and the receiver mount/air tank retainer. I also test fit the wing center section to the fuse tonight. First time I've tried it and luckily the fit seems really good. The center section is shockingly heavy.. I've decided to...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Got to go out today, got to the field around 10:30 and it was overcast and a little cold, low 50's or so (Hey that's cold for here) but by about 3pm we were in t-shirts! Really got lucky with the weather today, big old puffy clouds in the skies, my favorite.
