Glued my wing control horns in. I didn’t bother taping. Fill the slots with epoxy, nice thin coat of epoxy and it does on pretty even and squishes our a bit. Any excess is cleaned up with a towel soaked in isopropyl alcohol.

Wow nick 2 inch arm and the lowest hole will take away a lot of torque from the servo, and those ailerons look pretty big. Will need some pretty good servos to do the job.

I hear ya. I'm becoming more a fan of equal distance from the pivot points. I have no research. What I do know is that the lower hole is roughly just below 1.5" from the hinge line, and the upper hole is roughly just below 1.75" from the hinge line. So If I use a 2" arm, I'll have the option of using 1.5-2". While my servos are overkill and can take it... I really just want the most travel, and best geometry that doesn't bind in the process. With that said.... I just checked the throws.... 55-60* bevel to bevel. WOW. Since we know 38* is the best max deflection for aerobatics, there is still greed for crow flaps, and full flaps. Starting to think I'll use the 2" arms, probably end up with the 1.75" mark and the 1.75" hole and go from there - my quick test with a throw meter puts the throws at 45-50* Which is about what I'd like for full flaps.

Of all the flying I have done never seen or felt the difference between 45 and 60 degrees. So slowly as I work my way through my planes they are all being moved to 45 to 50 degrees. And I watch my are arm ratio very carefully. My biggest fear is flutter.

Getting my DLE55RA ready.
Installed a bowman ring (Bjorn Baal is he new owner) I got this one from VVRC. OEM ring was .011 gap. Bowman came at 0.001 gap! I prefer a little bit more so I filed it to a .003” gap. It’ll break in and open up a bit more, still way better than the OEM. Gap was checked bottom, middle, top of the stroke, not much difference, maybe .001 tighter towards the top. I stick it in place and push it up with the piston. Put it back together with some redline oil once happy.

Checked the timing, was set at 32-33. Not bad. I reset it to 29 with an RCEXL test kit.

Gentlemen received my Timber 110 at last. Went through the box everything looks good and the windscreen is ok.
Before I start I need to make up my mind how it will be powered. At first it was going to be done electrically. But I am having some doubts. The planes estimated weight could be 19 lbs or more which I think will be to much for the electric motor which is 2000 watts. Have been looking into getting a DA 60 for the plane, boy they are getting expensive, quality is always costly.

Going to use some MPX connectors for the wings. Always takes me a while to figure out where to hardmount them. This seems like the ideal location since the can be plugged in from the top or through the canopy.

There’s a good deal on a DA 60 on that other site. I think it was $400.
