Also starting putting my old Sig 1/5 Piper Cub back together. It's been moth balled for years now. I installed my BME 90 gasser in the nose, new fuel tank, and moved the rudder servo back to a pull pull setup. Took the scale landing gear off and installed the stock gear back on. Shed some weight!!
Got the fuse about wrapped up. Still don't know if I'll mount the fuel tank in the fuse, or on the side of a mount I'll build. Also still need to cut out the throttle servo hole. Wings are next!!
Coming along nicely. I decided to mount the servo on the side, where I needed the hole was almost at the same location as the landing gear. And I was cutting into an area that I felt would weaken the plane to much.
I hear ya snoop! I'm going to patter mine after the ProX. I think I can get away with it. I'm still thinking I'm going to fill in the first two lower bays for an external fuel and ignition mounting surface. I'll probably use some 1/16" light ply and sandwich some balsa in the center.
Ok, made my first mistake!! I used the ProX as a template for the throttle servo before checking the position of the root wing rib. Cut the hole in exactly the wrong spot. I had to fill in the hole and move the servo down a bit. I also built the tank/ignition mount. I think I've got the fuse all done, except for gluing on the vertical fin. Might do that next.
It I may suggest leave the throttle servo for later get the landing gear fitted first and the wing positioned on the fuselage then look at servo location.
