Simply speechless. You make my builds look like a bunch of twigs held together with string. Very nicely done! I can't wait to hear how it flies. Video...PLEASE???!!!

Well while waiting on the regulator and switch to get here from Smart-Fly, I set about getting ready to test run the engine on the stand.
After some playing around, I figured out how to use a spare Smart-Fly Pin and Flag switch for the Magneto ground.
The RX will also have a Pin and Flag switch, so the two pins will be next to each other in the fuse, and I'll make up some decals to differentiate between the two.

Couple of days ago, I got the engine mounted to a makeshift test stand and got it running. After a little tweaking she is starting to purr like a kitten.
After we got it running, we enlisted the help of one of my dad's friends who runs a machine shop to mill .250 off the back of the prop hub. Now while the hub is not as short as the 6 bolt hub grampa had on his Krier, it does look a lot better than it did before. The prop no longer sticks out in the middle of nowhere!
What it looked like before, it's amazing what 1/4" will do for looks!!

With the Krier Kraft all but done (just waiting on a bit of fuel line I didn't have on hand) I took it to a fly-inn today to show it off a bit.
Now I've been looking for a new club to join since I decided to leave my previous one almost 2 years ago, and today the Marion Airfoils had their open house. Dad and I decided to go since it is literally only 30 minutes from home, and ended up joining the club.
Here's the best part about going to the Airfoils open house today, Papaw Mickey was a member of the Airfoils for many, many years. Well over 90% of his model flying took place while a member, including all of the time he flew the Krier.
The field moved around a few times in the 80's, and while most of the pictures I have of his Krier Kraft were taken at the field they had in Greencamp, it did see many flight hours at the field we were at today on Herr Road, just out side of Big Island.
Today We got to pit in pretty much the same spot papaw used to pit, with his Krier and Skybolt. That really made me wish I had his Skybolt with us, but maybe next year.
The Highlight of the day was seeing one of papaw's old flying buddies. It was awesome that he recognized and remembered the Krier Kraft after 30+ years, and he can still put a Koas through it's paces pretty darn good!!!
So here's a bit of a blast from the past on this beautiful Saturday. My Krier, parked in the same place Papaw Mickey's Krier would have been parked 35 years ago.
Today was an awesome day. And now that I'm sitting here thinking about it, it was a bit emotional as well. Really made me, and I'm sure dad too, think of Papaw A LOT... And I sure do miss him a lot.
But it also made me pretty greatful, that I got to share some of our family memories with the great guys you all are. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I appreciate all you guys for following along. It's really cool to get to share some of the stories about grampa that dad has been telling me for years, and the fact that you all seem genially interested in them makes me feel like I get to keep his legacy alive.
