The covering is done! I still want to turn up the heat on the iron a little and go over all the edges again, but it's on to priming after that.

So, dumb question..... Did you reduce your primer with intent not to sand (open areas) or do you intend to lightly sand it before base?
Good question actually. I used flex additive and a little reducer. Both will make it lay a little smoother.

I will lightly sand the open areas with 400 most likely. The primer went down pretty well, so it should work fine with any luck. I just need to be really careful around the edges of the open areas. You don't want to sand into the fabric, it can get rough and furry if you sand too much. The voice of experience talking.

Just a question to @Jetpainter. Please note all my painting has been with dope and then in later years switched to Stits. Never had a concer adout sanding open areas. Is this a problem with base coat and clear coat. Just trying to understand. Because when we do stits there is a brush coat and spray coat and then we apply the colour coat. When we do the brush coat we do two or three coats on the edges first sand the edges smooth and apply the spray coat this prevents us from sanding through to the cloth and get the Fuzzys. Note I have never had this happen ???????? . Please trying to get an understanding about base coat and clear coat because I would like to try it. Understand all this 2K primer and like it, been playing with it after you explaned it. Thanks.
