Which is exactly what I have been told by several people in the leadership of the AMA. They have no interest in policing this.

Judge the problem is many of the clubs are taking their own stand with registration and some of us cannot really control that. Some clubs are so regimented that they will police it. Not a big deal, but just another aggravation for club members to have a club VIP bugging them about their FAA card.

Yep, I am familiar with your club as well. Ben V. flies with you guys. He told me about them closing that field and then shortly after it was opened back up. There may be a couple of guys that would not be too far from you or the Aeronuts' field. I am not sure though.

I fly at Southside RC (Burkeville, VA) and CVRC (Powhatan, VA). CVRC is the one the land is being sold. I will know more after the meeting coming up this weekend what folks plans are.

With all the FAA and AMA stuff going on and losing a field I am sure some can get extremely discouraged by it all.

Yup Ben V flies with us. He is a cool guy and a great builder.

I wonder what will happen if an ama member, not registered with FAA, flying at a chartered ama club field, has an accident, will they pay the claim even though said member is breaking the law?

I have another question, has anyone ever been denied membership to the ama, or been kicked out of the ama?

Hi Luchnia, I see you fly at the cvrc club, my buddy Larry Burk flies there . He lives up here in Conneaut, Oh. in the summer & in Powhatan in the winter. I know he said they have that field for sale & there's a lot of members in that club . Just wonder if you know Larry ? !

There is nothing that indicates that being registered will have anything to do with paying a claim. All AMA requires is that you follow the safety code, but even then it is not a nit pick thing. For instance, I have never heard of a claim being denied because there was no AMA number on the model.

Clubs are free to do what they want to as long as they do it legally. So clubs can ban helicopters, turbines, require electric only, etc. A club could require you to wear a pink Tu-tu if they did it in accordance with their bylaws. What clubs cannot do is something like violate federal discrimination laws, or such.

The question was if AMA was going to require this, and everything I have heard and been told says no. Clubs can if they want to.

That was not the question I was responding to. There has only been one person that the AMA tried to expel, but ended up doing a short suspension on. It was a few years back, he was flying FPV at high altitude around the traffic pattern for the Las Vegas airport. Early bad press for our hobby.

So far they have not done that. But I am not one who feels the AMA is lying or otherwise misrepresenting the situation. What possible reason would there be to do that??

Chickenballs, I read that on the ama website but as far as that being said, they said they were going to ask for that when they meet with the FAA. Funny how they make that statement before they know it will be approved.
