You can do it with that small skills that you saw on that last picture. When I cut out the ailerons I will have my wife take pictures. the Key is to only use that bottom shuck. both shucks on will not fit.

Cool, looking forward to it!

I plan on using a small box cutter knife for the ailerons. I would use the band saw primarily for the counter balance on the rudder and maybe separating the stabs for the elevators and rudder.

Do you have a long ruler, if so, have someone else hold it down on the line you drew out, so it will guide your knife.

However, another option for you, is when you draw out your lines for the removal of the balsa / foam strip that is 1" wide (on all three surfaces), just go down the middle with the knife. Then you can finish it off with the band saw and using the shuck (meaning, the removal of the foam/balsa at the border of the foam and LE with the TE (1" wide area). The advantage of the band saw is that it will guarantee that your cut will be square. I would recommend you use a band saw. I do not know how good you are with your hands, but even I tried to split down the middle with a knife, and I cam very close (on the opposite side) to violate the into the line of the hinge gap cut.

I also use the Formula 56 (I think that is what it is called) than I have had for some time!

RE: cutting the ailerons. I usually mark up the top side of the aileron cutouts using a heavy dark pencil or pen on the wood itself. But be sure to mark the side with the aileron TOWARD the bandsaw. For the right wing that would be marking the bottom right side cutting out the aileron then taking the aileron and cutting off the 1/2" or so for the leading edge. The top left wing is to be marked and then the aileron cut out. Don't ask me how I found out which side to mark!!!!
