Wing stripes look great, and the bling is a nice touch. I bet those wing bolts make life much easier!

Like the two stripes! Next step, piano keys!
That all white is awesome, what a canvas!

Thanks guys! I'm really enjoying putting this plane together and i'm just taking my sweet time. I just ordered some servo wire to make my own extensions for the rudder servos. Unfortunately my receiver didn't come today so i can't set up my linkages yet.

Mounted the GP-123 tonight. It looks great hangin' on the front of the Slick! I'm excited to fire it up but I need to get a prop first. I'll be getting a Falcon CF 29x9. I used high temp loctite on the muffler bolts and red rtv for the gasket. I shouldn't have any issues with loose mufflers. I'm using a wood mount that is available from vital-rc for a standoff. It comes with the DA-100 pattern which is the same as the GP-123. The plane also came with a template to drill the firewall so doing that was as easy as lining up the template and drilling out the holes. I used m6 bolts, nuts, lock washers, and plenty of blue loctite to secure it to the firewall.

Cowl cut out, just needs final mounting. I'll do that after I get my fuel line, throttle servo, and ignition all mounted.

Here are some more pics of the steps I took to mount the cowl.

First I put the cowl on as far as it would go then marked where the mufflers touched the cowl with a pen. Next I measured the distance fro the firewall to the front of the mufflers so I know how far I need to cut to fully seat the cowl. I put masking tape on the cowl to help keep the paint from chipping while I cut it out with my dremel. I cut a little at a time and test fit it A LOT along the way to make sure the cuts were going where they needed to go.

You can see the final results in the above post.

After seeing this all white full-scale Slick i'm thinking of keeping it all white except the stripes on bottom to keep it scale. Just do the stripes for orientation though.

Then could just put the letters on the back.

I'll probably still do a scheme on this one but it had me thinking :)

After getting home from work late this evening I decided to set up my elevator linkages. Got them done pretty quick.
Tomorrow I'm going to try to install the aileron control horns and linkages.

Got one aileron all set up. It was pretty easy matching the servos with the 8FG since i could just do everything from the radio. The Savox 2230s are pretty freakin' sweet! When there is no binding they are dead silent! I mean zero noise....i had to check that my radio was still powered on a few times! With over 1100oz-in of torque on each aileron, the rudder, and 583oz on each elevator i shouldn't have any problems with blowback :flyer:

I'm going to put the stripes on my other wing tomorrow and maybe the elevators. I'm waiting for some servo extension wire to come so i can make extensions for my rudder and elevator servos, it should be here Thursday. Then i need to set up my throttle servo, fuel line, and install my switches and fuel dot. I'm going to be using 2 Fromeco Badger switches , 2 Fromeco Relion 5200 mAh packs, and a DCup capacitor. I'll also need to cut my spinner a bit to fit my Falcon 29x9.

Hone, dude that plane is gonna be sick. Glad you got it. Still think its funny how people say I'd never have one that big, if I do itll be along time :D I can remember saying that a year ago when I got a Champ as my first plane.

Hahah yeah i started with a Champ too and never imagined going this big. Now that it's here i'm super excited to fly it though :) I got to fly one and it was great! Draws nice lines and is a 3D animal but I can't wait to fly mine on my own setup.
I really want it to be ready to fly by next weekend.
