Engine Running -> Wings On / Wings Off?

I don't think it makes difference, especially if you're just going to run engine. The only time I put wings on is when I'm getting ready to fly.

I tried flying one time without them, but our runway just wasn't long enough to take off.

Run it with the wings off and look at how it jumps around,should answer the question.

I run mine without wings on when I'm running it for the first time without much vibration, but it's also on my lawn.

I always run with wings on and pluged in for ignition functionality with all servos drawing amps. Make sure you have the canopy on and secure as well!

P-Huck and I cranked one of my DA-120 powered planes once "just for a minute" to check something, with wings off. I held it by both sides of the wing tube. The vibrations actually hurt my hands and up to my wrists and elbows. It was then I decided there may be something to the "don't crank with wings off" thing I've been hearing periodically for the past few years. Can I prove this is detrimental to the frame? No. But I don't do it any more. As always, YMMV, to each his own, and all that jazz....

Wings on.....the wings help absorb engine vibration, especially at idle.
