Alright, telemetry and onboard tach installed and working on DA 150 . Using adjustable hall unit from mile high rc, shunts from radio shack, and forgot where digital tach is from, rc exl I believe, total cost 24.00
Thanks 49dimes, alky6 and muttdog from over yonder for the ideas and tech help here.
Tested units pre install with a drill and " prop" , taped small magnet to drill barrell to verify readings, made resistor protectors from large fuel tube and plenty of shrink wrap and wire wrap for security.
Installed unit on prop hub, removed spark plugs and 5mm bolt with stop nut to turn with a dewalt, fired up system, radio and drill... all readings stable at 10-950 rpm. Didnt get photo of radio readings but they all match!
This hasnt been tested on a running engine yet but have no reason why it wont work in all conditions , the only erratic readings so far have been when turning hub back and forth by hand, one reading said 10,456 rpm. But all is stable and correct when " under power " .
Fairly simple install, wire code is white to grey, red to orange and black to black from t-1000 to sensor, resistor only goes inline betweeen red and white lead from sensor to y harness, harness not required for just telemetry but it adds a lil extra bling.. the digi tach to the electric panel area and will be functional for setting both idle settings on ground. Very happy with it but can't believe I didnt weigh the system pre install, I weigh everything usually.
Oh, made the risers from 4-40 blind nuts epoxied to lite ply feet and nylon spacers then appropriate alum/ titanium bling to finish.
Happy holidays guys, enjoy your family and friends, please be aware and consider the less fortunate in the world this weekend, we have a privelage to do what we do that many could only dream of.
