That is gorgeous, the effort and time spent on that is well worth it. Who cares even if it was heavier, which its not, really really nice work.

Thanks Brian. I'm with you. It wasn't about weight... Was just curious for balance.

Next will be to make the adjustments for the carb bolt to clear and make the delren bushings, and then the exhaust mount. It will be one integrated module.

I love this plane. Looks great... It may be my favorite airplane I've ever owned.

What do you think about bringing back the Scale in Scale Aerobatics?

I'm thinking, the contest would have two parts. Static display judging, and sequence.

I'm really tired of non-scale stretched out aerobatic planes, film covered thow-away ARF's, and the dumbing down of precision aerobatics. Let's see the modellers come back to the hobby. Those were the guys I looked up to as a kid.

Matt,

My biggest gripe and the biggest turn off for me is the power being totally out of scale. A good acro pilot is a specialist in energy management, sure there are some full scale aircraft that are very overpowered in the lower classes, but the modern IMAC planes are not even close to scale. What's the point of added complexity on an upline if the pilot has all of the time in the world to stretch it out?

It doesn't make any sense to me and defeats the purpose of calling it scale aerobatics. Sure the figures have to be shaped correctly and presentation for the judges has to be there but unlimited vertical is almost nonexistent in any IAC category so it shouldn't be there in IMAC, IMHO. it's just silly to me that there is no reference to energy management in scale aerobatics.

or am i completely wrong?

Hey Bart,

I can completely understand your perspective... And I don't disagree. At the same time, if the full scale guys could make the kind of power that we have... They would!

What I've described above, is really not using current IMAC airplanes as they are, but something like the Challenger in this thread.

full scale owners can barely afford being underpowered! i can't imagine how expensive 'overpowered' would be!

i've kicked around the idea of fielding a more scale (power and performance) aerobatic plane and trying IMAC with it. i've always wanted to give it a try but haven't been able to find the time to make it happen.

IMAC should have a displacement vs. wingspan restriction, IMHO

I'd be happy if the planes were just more scale!

The Valach 210 will have lots of power, but only turns 4800-5000 rpm.

Agreed, but youd be outclassed and out powered/ performed flying scale vs the purpose built IMAC machines, it would have to be a seperated class, which im all for !
Truth told, I dont know if most judges could score a scale performance correctly .
Eventually, I plan to use the 3.1m comp arf for a scale freestyle routine set to an old Scholl or Soucy routine with the announcer and pilot chatter instead of music .I don't expect to win without blenders, hovering and the like, just want to present a scale performance. I mean.. my hat says " scale aerobatics" right.

This plane was already incredible before you added the custom engine mount. Very nice!

You may have already mentioned this, but what are your plans for covering material?
