I will offer this though... I ran an airboss 45 on a motor that was somehow wound "hot". It was all purchased as a combo on an ExtremeFlight 48" Extra. Since it was their in-house combo setup I never watt metered it. Plane had fantastic vertical performance and lots of power, but every once in a while it would suddenly feel very slow and low on power for 15-20 seconds, and then all was well again.
So after 100 flights or so I sold the plane to a friend who noticed the same thing. Eventually he got ahold of the EF support guys and they asked him to send the motor in, it was wound wrong and was making much more power than it should have been.
We were over-amping that little airboss 45 by a solid 5-10 amps. It would get too hot and then shut down to partial power until it cooled off, and then all was well again. So the Airboss ESC's will take a lot of abuse.

Second - although the Omega 103 might be rated for 45 amps, that doesn't mean you are pulling that through it. You may very well only be pulling 35 - 40 amps. Stick it on a watt meter and see what you are pulling. You may not need an ESC. To be absolutely safe I usually run 45's in my 42" Slick, but if it were me and that little airboss hasn't shut down in mid flight to reduced power, then I wouldn't worry about it much.

I have a 50A ESC you can borrow until you find something better. If you're planning on stopping by GCA next weekend, I'll bring it! It's a... Chinese brand... if you know what I mean, but it works. At least it worked last time I used it...

Mine was doing the same thing. It would feel solid and then slow down and speed back up.

I had an ESC do that to me in a knife edge causing a crash. I was losing altitude and tried to power out of it and didn't realize what was going on until it was too late... So now Dan has the choice between a cheap Chinese ESC and one that's too small. Talk about rock and a hard place! :)

Wow, that thread is full of win. I'm glad I only use FG for the classifieds. I'd have been pissed if I had a plane up when that happened. It's annoying enough when someone does it on a sim, let alone if I've got a couple thousand dollar toy in the air at the time.
