To get into trees at my last club you would have to be a VERY long way from the field, but at the club I fly at now the trees are right behind you. Needless to say there are guys in the trees now and then. Thankfully I haven't been in one. I did have a really spectacular crash with a Blade 130 helicopter one day when I was there by myself. I hit the runway flying inverted then managed to ricochet off of a roll around airplane starting stand then a workbench and a trash can and ended up underneath a seat swing hanging from one of the trees.:oblong:

It was a shame no one was there to see it but me.
Bet you couldn’t do that again.

I wouldn't bet on it. I've seen him crash whirlybirds. He's pretty good at it.
That Trex 550 did hit with a pretty impressive thump didn't it.;)

It did live on to fly another day better than ever.

Sure did. So hard I felt it on the soles of my feet. But you did a beautiful job on the re-build. That baby is sexy!
It turns out the bearing in the torque tube for the tail rotor instead of being half way back in the tube, had slid all the way back to the tail rotor causing the drive shaft to flail around rubbing the tube and killing some gears in the tail rotor drive. Then a stupid move on my part after the thing started shaking like crazy led to the big thump. Thankfully it didn't hurt any of the electronics other than the motor. I ended up replacing every bearing in it since they were all shot. Honestly I don't know why it didn't crash sooner considering how bad some of them were.

Don’t know much about helicopters but it seems to me when they hit the ground there is a lot more moving parts that get damaged and more to replace and repair.
But I must say looks pretty good on the table almost like new.

Yeah there's a lot of parts, but they go together quickly.
