A couple weeks ago Great Planes had a sale on their 60" Fling DL. I've been wanting a larger DLG ever since I picked up one of the UMX Whipits last year so I couldn't resist. It's a pretty old ARF. The manual says 2005 on the cover. I started un-boxing it last night and the covering looked horrible. Worst I'd ever seen. Lucky for me, @Decal Dennis was there and he wasted no time working his magic with the heat gun and iron. In no time at all he had it looking perfect.

I didn't have a lot of shop time today but I did manage to join the wing halves together.

So while I was in my shop yesterday repairing my mojo and working on a project for the wife I overheard my old beat down mojo talking to the new mojo. It was telling the other things to do and things not to do like to just say no to a video contest that crippled its wing last year. I said the hell with it. Got my templates and plans out and cut some new parts and framed up a new wing for it. Still needs sheeting but it's just about ready to graft onto the old wing and cover it all up.

I found a couple old build threads on the Fling DLG. They had some good tips on beefing up a couple weak points. One being the center section where the wing halves join. So today I stripped some of covering off the middle of the wing and wrapped it in a couple layers of fiberglass cloth and 30 minute epoxy. That's about as far as I got today. Was hoping to mount the tail feathers but I have to have the wing on first to be able to square up the tail feathers.

Hey Dennis,

The picture you just posted leaves me with a question. can you scale the wavy flag to 104" long x approximately 24" deep with proportionally correct (length wise) size stars and the break between the blue & red/white right in the middle? It would look AWESOME on the top of my AMR Stick wing. . . . . :big_yes:.
