You will like it I have had several tail wheels but since I bought a J and J tail wheel I will not use anything else.

I taxi down the runway, turn and take off, then land, turn and taxi back to pilot station. How would upgrading my tail wheel help me there? Maybe I need to fly enough to wear out the cheap stock tail wheel.

I will stick my neck out but maybe what "Snoops" was referring to was the same thing I have found with the J and J tailwheels I have. A tail wheel is a tail wheel right? Not so much... Some rubber tires are very soft and peal right off the wheel itself. Ask me how I know this. LOL. Or due to being too soft, the tire wears out extremely fast. Some tires are simply way too hard and are extremely noisy. Especially when the axle/hub assemblies are not designed within the proper specs. Some wheels I have seen just are not very strong and break right at the axle hub. As for the tiller assembly, many I have had were just simply engineered totally wrong. Now maybe this is all just too technical for a tail wheel assembly. But it is kind of like the White Rose Wheels vs. the Airman wheels. White Rose are very pretty. But noisy....dang they are noisy. Airman are extremely smooth and very quite. (Too bad that the people that been running Airman basically "sucked" at customer service and meeting the demands of the needs of the hobby.) Back to the J and J tail wheels. Designed of aluminum and machined very nicely. The fit of the wheel is very nice with a robust but not too hard rubber on the tire. The grip on the asphalt runway is really good too. I have had a few tail wheels that just "skipped" across the surface. Makes for very poor ground handling. Granted, I like things that look nice, but I also expect that item to function as designed with the least amount of frustration and maintenance. Nothing "erks" me more than going to the field and wanting to fly and your day is completely ruined from such a seemingly insignificant item. Just my thoughts David.

I suppose primarily my lack of tailwheel concern is the difference in flying. Some of you guys fly 50 flights a week, i'm more like 50 flights a year. We have a grass runway, even at my last (now defunct) club I took of and landed on the grass beside our 750' runway. So I suppose less wear and tear on the wheels.

Then there's always the issue of the plane outlasting the tailwheel....................................

Have say the Stang and I agree on tail wheels. One thing I like is the J&J tail wheel is there titanium one and not the carbon leaf one, you can abuse it and just keeps working it never splits or goes soft.

I received a relay from USPS via my buddy Tony this week with a load of parts for his Ultimate.

Falcon 3 blade prop, DA120, fuel tank, Tech-Aero Ultra, wheels, Blazing Star mount, headers, Hysol, fuel lines and batteries. The fuel tank is a PAU pro tank, it's really nice!

If you've never bought a big three blade prop before, it comes in a giant pizza box. ;)

Beautiful load of goodies right there. Is that a felt clunk in the PAU tank?
