I use #20 T pins purchased from Amazon by the 1/2 pound, also have larger #28 size for heavy work, these are the the same as the Sig T pins sold. The FAI pins are supposed to be the cat's behind but never used them. I use dressmaker pins from Walmart with a ball tip but about half of the balls come off when removing.

Thanks for help believe this is the first time I am planking a double compound surface and I am struggling, this is not going to turn out good, I will just have to do my best and next time it will be better, I hope.

Well I have been working on the canopy most of the day. Got 5 three quarter inch wide planks on either side. This is not fun and quit difficult to do, it is going to take a lot of sanding and filler to make this look good. I believe another 2 or 3 days of work to get the canopy planked. Wish me luck.

I found the 3M large hole filler works great.
I used the strip planking method when I rebuilt the RC Guys Piper Cherokee

Ok, I have learnt a few lessons today, you must use the same hardness of wood, second do not use scrap balsa laying around and lastly it must be the exact same thickness if not you are going to have a bad day as I have learned a few lessons today. The one side is covered, I did a little of putting to see how it looked. Not to bad I can make this work. The worst thing I have to do the other side. I believe it will go a little better, and also use narrower strips.

Thanks for notes it is helpful and yes I started with 3/4 wide planks and that did not work I ended up down to 3/8 which seem to work best.

Ok the canopy is planked, not a job I enjoyed doing will tr to avoid it in the future. Made such a mess of the shop so while I was cleaning up the fuselage was on the floor so I decided to do crude assembly just to see how it looks.

@TonyHallo one question, Tony the sides of the canopy is flexible or soft, it deflects in when I try to sand it. Would you paint the inside with 50% thinned epoxy, or just take some wood glue and dilute it with water and paint the inside with that.
