Well after some fiddling and trying to make the engine fit with the canisters. It became obvious that I was In a bit of difficult. Started weighing everything in great detail and all the components and I mean everything. After several attempts I kept coming up that the plane will be well over 40 lbs. this will have be digested and given some thoughts.

Jeepers! I think my 110" Timber was about 20#, The only thing that looked a bit beefy was maybe the ply thickness, extra wing ribs, and maybe the lightening holes could be a tad bigger. . . just thoughts. 40#'s seems pretty high, but I'm sure the T cart will handle higher wing loading. I'd imagine 35# at that size would be a better target weight?? Not really sure, just shooting from the hip here.

That does sound a little heavy for 112" span plane, my Champ built mainly out of spruce with a 7 and half pound four stroke came in at 40 pounds. 2800 sq inches and it flies rather slowly. Better to know now than later.

Have to agree it’s heavy and I am looking into some way to reduce the weight.

First decision will to not paint the plane., and plastic cover the plane will save me maybe 3 to 4 lbs..
Next decision is engine and what to do. From my experience a DA 120 will fly very well up to 34 lbs but not at 42 lbs plus. I have 2 planes at 40 to 42 lbs and both have DA150 in them and they fly very well.

Well decided to put the back half of the fuselage together check if everything squared and parallel. That took a while but then used the Lazer and it went a lot better. It’s all aligned and glued just needs cure, should be ready tomorrow to remove all the clamps and see what we have.

Boy do I love visual progress like this! You'd save another 4lbs if you didn't use the cannisters. That would be easy to omit last minute though.
I've always enjoyed seeing your wood working skills, whenever I imagine a beautiful wood joint - it looks like your work in my head . . . not how I do it though ha ha!
