Petitioning AMA members for separation from drones

I agree. but the ama already looks bad in everyones eyes. In my opinion, everyone on this forum and all the other airplane forums can form a new fixed wing association that governs just fixed wing aircraft and represents us in washington. With no other special interest people at the top as board...

Petitioning AMA members for separation from drones

The ama has basically said in a letter that the faa has the power to override the 2012 congress law. I signed the petition but it will fall on def ears. I will see if I can copy the wording they used in my buddies email. He told them he was not going to renew when they sent him a beg-o-gram for...

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

We are going to see in a few weeks that the ama actually bargained to get this deal. There should be public record. The minutes are probably available. People are really going to be mad when we find out what has really transpired.

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

Can anyone really answer this question? We need the AMA for what? Your club does not need ama. Your homeowners covers you first. They obviously do not provide anything of use. Your club can set its own guidelines for safety. Obviously they have no say when it comes to law. They have admitted...

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

I really think there needs to be a new seprate association that represents airplanes and helis. No control line, no free flight, no multi rotor. Everybody steps up with first year dues, we hire some of the nra lawyers for our lobby group and go our own seprate way from ama.

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

There is also a guy that flies out of our flying field with a powered parachute. He decided to fly over a power plant smoke/steam stack and the heat deflated his chute. He did a free fall untill his chute re inflated. Then continued over the second stack where it fell again. This time it re...

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

We did in southern minnesota at our motorcycle events. The neighbor who had a ralley sport ultralight would fly recklessly over the treetops where we were having our event and do loops over us. It happened at least 5 times. Finally the local sherrif who was also in our events gave him a talking...

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

I agree on the locals not enforcing it. I do actually like all the new drone stuff. I actually don't like anyone being regulated. But going up to 2500 feet next to an airport is just dangerous. These morons need to be educated. That richard cranium that came over from switzerland and posted all...

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

I don't feel like getting a fine or be on a faa list so I will abstain for now. It gets too cold to really enjoy flying here in the winter anyways so I will see if they pull their heads out of their a$$es by spring. I am glad I did't pull the trigger on another 100cc plane.

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

I just called and cancelled my AMA this morning and they refunded my money no questions asked. Super easy and the lady was nice. I am just making sure that if the ama does get it so that you are "automatically registered", I ain't gonna be one of them. It is too bad because I really enjoyed the...

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

I am going to cancel my AMA before they automatically sign me up for the license. I would advise people not to register until we see how this pans out.

They can fine me if they want. I will not register anything. These people can all be removed by voting the right people into office. If not, I can find other hobbies. Not a big deal.

FAA Announces their rules for radio controlled aircraft

Once again, I went to the registration site for the FAA and it says "if you own a drone, you must register it". Our big airplanes are model aircraft as are helicopters. They are not SUAS's or drones. But I am for dumping the AMA simply because they keep offering the stupid magazine with mostly...
