Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

To get into trees at my last club you would have to be a VERY long way from the field, but at the club I fly at now the trees are right behind you. Needless to say there are guys in the trees now and then. Thankfully I haven't been in one. I did have a really spectacular crash with a Blade 130...

21.5 pounds with a DA85 should be rediculous. I've flown one with a DA85 with a RE3 tuned pipe that weighed 26 pounds and it had very good power. 4.5 pounds less would have made it ballistic.

I had one of the older style DA ignitions on a Secraft mount that uses the hard plastic Velcro on the base and a Velcro strap wrapped around it. The clear tape that holds the two halves of the box together split and the main part slid out of the mount and fell onto the header. Thankfully it...

Do a Google search for Peter Goldsmith trimming. He did a really good article on it.

If the plane is let's say nose heavy, you need just a tad of up elevator trim to fly level when upright. When you go knife edge that slight up trim will make it pull towards the canopy.

It looks like they pretty much cloned the face a JR 9503 or 10X when they built it.

Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

Since last weekends weather sucked, and the forecast for this weekend looks just as bad, my two buddies and I went flying today. I worked this morning, then went flying in the afternoon. It was a little breezy, but pretty nice otherwise. We had the field to ourselves all afternoon. I flew Miss...

I've always liked the longer spinners on an Edge, but like Mike said it's hard to tell from those angles.

Plus I get to relive it all the time when I walk out the door at work and see where he did fix the roof, but after I guess 20 years, the gutter is still a little bent.:)

After doing some research it looks like Carf had what they called a "Floating Blade Spar" on there early Extras and Yaks. I haven't been able to come up with a picture, but they talk about changing over to a tube in their Yak ad and the instructions for the Super Extra.

When I was a youngster I got one of these for my birthday. The next day my buddies and I got it fired up and since there was no place to tether it we did what any other youths of the 70's would have done and let it go down the street on it's own. A few seconds into it's maiden voyage one of the...

I didn't know they used the spars. I know Krill did on their Katana and I've seen some impressive crash videos when they break. My Carf Extra 330L was 12 years old when I sold it last year, it had wing tube.

Rob, that's my buddy Tony's Carf 35% 2.6 meter Extra 330SC with a DA120. Being a composite airplane it has an awesome paint job. Carf's have improved in the last few years by eliminating the seam at the top so they look better than ever. The Breitling scheme was actually my choice, or I should...

I use mine when it's not windy, and not too hot, since I'm lazy and don't want to put them on in the heat. And yes I take them on and off. On my Pilot Edge they seem to help quite a bit, but since I'm lazy, I don't run them that often.
